Hello Everyone,
Today the Crack Mack is looking magnificent in every way.
Her aroma is now a balanced mix of fruitiness and pungent dankness. It is hard to say which of the flavanoids are stronger, but it smells rather balanced and my hope is that a later harvest will bring a more balanced psychoactive effect into the mix as well.
Let's check out some pics from today.
Something about the way Sativa dominant varieties look is reminiscent of woolly mammoths to me. I am not sure why that is, but something about the overall shape of the cola's, with this shaggy look on the way down, really has that look going on. Can you see it too? :D
Some of these buds are leaning over a bit, but that is perfectly fine! She has good support with two layers of netting, and I am not the slightest bit concerned about a little bud saggage. With almost a month left to go in flowering, that's a good sign of how fat these buds are about to get.
These buds have a very girthy thick look going on, and at this stage in flowering that is a really great sign. In the next two to three weeks these buds will plump up quite a bit and this should turn out to be an epic grow.
In the photograph above we can see some yellowing occurring on some of the foliage. This is completely normal at this stage in flower development. It's important to inspect the foliage that is turning yellow to ensure it's normal. A normal yellowing should be mostly even in consistency. If the yellowing is only half of the leaf either vertically or horizontally it could be a sign of overfeeding or improper pH. When the yellowing is a normal healthy fade, it is due to the plant absorbing its stored nutrients in the foliage for flower development.
This is a perfect example of a leaf that has had its nutrients sucked up into the bud. Sometimes a little crisping on the tips of the leaf will occur, and this is nothing to be concerned about unless the amount of leaves doing this is concerningly high. At any given time only a handful of these leaves should be present on a big plant at mid-late stage flowering. If half of the leaves do this overnight it could be an indicator that something is wrong with the plant. In the case of this Crack Mack, only about 10 leaves a day are fading at this rate, and this is a healthy rate with a large plant like this one.
At day forty three there is twenty seven days left to go. If my day count is correct that puts the harvest date at 1/3/2025.
I will probably harvest a little bit off this plant on the twenty seventh of this month (a week early) so that I will have some new years bud to smoke :D
A successful harvest after the new year is my new years resolution, and I think that's attainable.
How's the Crack Mack looking to all of you?
