Day 68 – Half way through flowering

in Canna-Curatelast year (edited)

Major changes have been occurring in these plants, the flowers are forming and giving off a strong smell at this point. It still retains that fruit gum smell but now has more of a overall dank smell to the plants. No more signs of male flowers luckily, not really sure what that was about. Now all four are forming buds on their colas. The buds are probably as tall are they are going to get, so I moved the netting down a little bit so the others will make use of the second level of the support cords for their bud growth.

Strain:Zebra Stripe
Dominance:80/20 Indica Dominant Hybrid
Nutrients used:Foxfarm Tiger Bloom and Foxfarm Big Bloom / CO2 enriched grow environment
Phenotype traits:Compact nodes and short but wide growth, stubby leaves. During flower should be able to turn purple or black due to genetics from the blackwater strain.
Lineage:Blackwater x Blueberry Muffin x Alien OG
Current growing stage:Mid flower
Current plant age:68 days old overall and 28 days into flower
Sex:Feminized autos
Location:Central Virginia USA.

So far there are two major colas, the others are pretty small in comparison. I think due to me trimming the plants with them already starting to flower messed them up. I had no idea these were auto seeds so it was quite the surprise. But for the few large colas that are forming they look great.. Maybe the others will catch up, but we shall see.

Its cool to see all the popcorn nugs forming below the main colas, these flower pistils seem larger than most strains, so maybe they are going to fatten up a lot more by harvest time.

A few other colas have reached the top netting as well, nice and frosty.

With another month of growing these buds may get a lot bigger.

I am really thankful to find out about this netting, now with every grow the buds are much more organized and not leaning over.

For these big colas forming I had to move the light up a little bit so they do not get burned.. Keeping my 1000w HPS light between 16-20 inches from the colas.

I wonder if they are going to change color, the tent has been getting down to around 65F so we shall see if this triggers them to go purple or black.

We can see how they grow through both netting on their way up to the light.

I am not very happy with the canopy formed by these plants, since they were struggling going into flower seems not all are equal. So one side has a little less foliage than others.

But its possible for the smaller ones to catch up, we are only half way through flowering right now. Taking a total of around 60 days to fully ripen.

Even though the smaller ones have not grown as much, I am surprised by the stretch of the stronger ones. For indica dominant strains they have really grown a lot.

Looking forward to what these buds look like when they are done.. Hoping they taste great too.

Soon I will defoliate the plants quite a bit to get rid of the yellow leaves forming on them. Freeing up space for more light to get in and air flow to move around through the plants structure.

In another 30 days or so they should be ready to harvest. Looking forward to starting some new seeds, hoping to line them up with growing outdoor this year for the first time.

I hate autos but those are looking good

Yeah man if I knew they were I would not have got them. But oh well it is what it is.

thanks

I've got some In gonna plant this fall.. as long as hurricane season doesn't REKT me

nice man, hope they do well... fingers crossed a hurricane wont wipe them out.

Looking good.. can't wait to see the end at harvest! I'm gonna try that two rows of netting next time I think.

Me too, quite excited to see how they come out.

Oh nice, I have been using SCROG netting for three grows now and really happy with it.. If you have leaning bud problems it solves that.. also topping the plants you can make use of all the squares.

It is incredible to think that two months ago these plants were just germinated seeds, look at the great growth they have had, especially those two plants that are already above the level of the network
Good news to know that no more male flowers have appeared.

have a great day I appreciate dear friend @solominer that you take the time and share this update on the growth of your plants

It sure is, I love looking back at my early posts on them and seeing them as just little seedlings..

Those are some lovely ladies you're growing!

Thanks man, they are some nice petite ladies.

Looking good! I'd waste so much money killing plants if I tried to grow them!

Ah thank you.

Well you can just try outside in the summer, its pretty low cost.. Just pots, seeds, nutrients and soil. Maybe $150 max.

Gotcha. I travel too much in the summer to tend to them properly. My wife and I are usually out camping.

What pretty plants! I bet they'll smoke up nice for you! They all look pretty healthy. I don't think I've tried Zebra Stripe before, how is it?

Much appreciated, looking forward to trying them once they cure up well.

I have never tried it, but other growers say it has a great fruity tasty to it.

When I handle the plant it gives off a fruit gum like smell.. hopefully that transfers over to the smoke.

I will start sprouting a new batch of chilies at the end of this month. Looking forward to that.

Oh nice, I am looking forward to growing some peppers this spring and summer too.

Hope yours turn out well.

Well. Last year it didn't. I had bhut Jolokia seeds. It grew nicely, but the chilis weren't hot at all. Maybe it was because I started too late. I've got Carolina Reaper seeds and will start earlier.
Wish me luck. 🤞

Do you want to win SOME BEER together with your friends and draw the BEERKING.

Looking good man. Hopefully they fatten up nicely for you over the next little bit.

Thanks much, me too.. gonna make sure they get enough water to get big.

To the difficulties you've had with your plants, continue to grow big and strong, really that the network has been very helpful, I've seen Wes that use them and help them continue to grow, I'm glad you found it, and your pictures are great, you do not lack much to try your great plants

Yeah I really like the netting, it helps to hold up the buds well.

Thank you

Looks great! Those buds are definitely going to fatten up over the next month! 🤞
!BEER
!WEED (not tried this in a while)

Thank you, yeah I think they will too.. looking forward to seeing how they turn out when they are done.

appreciate the tokens.

Are you making use of any form of fertilizer or what exactly do you use?

Thanks, yeah it is all listed under "Nutrients used" after the first picture.

Hopefully mine will look half as good in a few weeks! 🤞
Been defoliating as I go, seem to come out with a fistful of leaves every time I open the tent! 🤣

Yours are looking great too.

Hah I know what you mean I keep a dish by my tent that I drop leaves as I clean up.

Quick question, you say these are autoflower and you are 68 days in? Autos take between 8 and 12 weeks, might be worth checking the trichomes for clear/milky/amber
(12*7-68=16 days left at most)

I believe they are auto flowers, since they just started flowering on their own.

Oh cool, that is sooner than I expected. I was expecting a flower time of between 55-65 days but maybe they started flowering earlier than I even noticed so maybe they are further along than I think.

OK will do, I will check them with my microscope next time the lights are out.

it looks really awesome, i like all those beauties :D

hehe thanks man

They look good @solominer I give you a tip and something that worked out for me so that you apply it in the next one, the Ingnite plant that I harvested recently just the first days in which it entered in flowering phase, I applied nitrogen in foliar form specifically liquid earthworm humus, In addition as organic fertilizer I used bat guano in the form of tea, which in addition to phosphorus also has a good amount of nitrogen and when the plant was ready it still kept the leaves very green as if they had not worn out their energy in the flora, product of the resources that I provided at the beginning.

I like that in your publications you are very detailed with a lot of data that are always appreciated.

Ah thanks for the tip, I check my NPK once in awhile and keep everything dialed in. I use the nutrients listed in the top of the post and they seem to work well for me.

Glad you like my posts.

Yes @solominer you have to recognize the work in the publications and much more in this world of cultivation that clearly gives us not only satisfaction, but also pleasure to delve into all its details.

I also thank you for the support you have had towards my work, plus you also reblogged one of my last publications and that is important because you expose them to your public that is numerous and that eventually brings the support of the community back, and that is a symbol of good vibes of authentic brotherhood, I know how to read these gestures of support.

Yes, we can see that there seems to be a huge change in this flower plant. Of course they grow so well because of the special care that you do.
