Netting up the cannabis plants

in Canna-Curate4 months ago (edited)

I have started to see signs of flowers form on these plants. Soon they will stretch and become quite top heavy. If nothing is done, they can bend over and break. So to stop this I will deploy netting to keep them secure and protected from the wind and bending due to dense colas.

Driving in t-posts I attached PVC pipes using worm gear clamps.

Using paracord I attach the netting to the posts and to each other. I bought some 95 and 275 paracord. I think the smaller stuff should work.

With the pipes ready I can set up the netting.

After laying the netting on the plants. I realized how small they are.. funny cause I use this same netting in my grow tent to support four plants. Now one netting does not even fit over each plant.

This is not going to work.

The taller ones seem to hold it better, but I am going to go with a larger net. Soon I will have some more netting to work with and get this redone. I also need to cut off that cola that is turning yellow, its the only one doing it so not sure what is wrong with that one.

I will need to come back to this project and redo it. I feel like this netting to too small for these big plants, really funny to see how big they are. I can only imagine trying to fit one of these plants in my grow tent now. They are monsters.

Sort:

That's a big work. Imagine the process
I have never thought of this plant being broken due to wind. I used to see them as strong plants

Yep its something I have read happen to other people so hopefully the nets will help long term.

take care of the stroms, i have so much problems with the storms because if rain a lot the main branch lose strength and falls to the muddy ground.

Thanks, I will be careful with them.

That really sucks, I hope that does not happen to me.

I hope everything will went well even though storms will come.😊

Me too, hopefully all goes well.

I'm really sure it well go well.😊

I can imagine how tricky it must be to adjust and find the right netting.

Yeah this netting is not really working for me, I will post an update once I get it up a little better.

Absolutely brother, will be fun to see that post

Yes, your work today looks very good to care for the marijuana plants, I hope your plants are healthy and grow well

Thanks, I think they are quite happy as well.

You're welcome, my brother likes marijuana plants😀

Hello @solominer
How great has been the growth of the plant, and you are very practical when it comes to finding a solution to the weight of the flowers.
This should work very well with larger networks.

Sure has been amazing, thanks. hopefully the right net will do the job.

The plant are doing very well and those flowers are lovely. Keep it up boss

Thanks, I am looking forward to its flowers.

Good morning dear friend @solominer I hope everything is okay there
It's a shame that the network has been very small and you have to redo the work. Once finished I think it will be a great solution to growth
Have a wonderful weekend

Good morning, yeah all is well here.

Yeah I will need to redo it, but once done I think it should work well.

I used deer fence and stretched the plant thru the fencing... it really spreads the plant out plus supports it.. I actually did 2 rings.. the first was tall tomato planters and I pulled the branches where they would grow thru the fencing and be protected from the high winds we got there..

Oh cool, that is a good idea.

That's a good problem to have in my opinion! That was my problem last year was they got so big and heavy that when the wind was rough it broke a lot of plants so putting up the net will be worth the time invested bro. They look amazing!

Hehe yeah but I still need to improve on it.

Yeah hopefully I wont need to worry about that happening to mine now.

Wow, I have never seen such large plants in real life, unfortunately in my country it is forbidden to plant them otherwise I would do it too :-(

They are getting quite big, this is my first outdoor grow so I am amazed how big they are getting now.

Oh damn well hopefully your country legalizes soon so you can grow them without worry.

It would be wonderful, I hope so too; I must say, however, that from this point of view my country is quite retrograde!

I've moved to all autos now to reduce grow times and not have to worry about freezes whacking the standards. Got 3 dozen seed to trimmed in 109 to 120 days and got between 1 and 4 oz each this year. You might look at some as they don't require support and you could easily get 2 runs in in a year as far south as you are.

Ah nice, I am looking into growing autos outdoors next season. I will try to get two grows out of one season like you said.

Maybe smaller plants will be easier to deal with as well.

The autos are way easier to deal with for sure. My tallest was 5 feet but lanky, most stay in the 2 - 3ft range. I give each ~9 sqft which allows for space between but they can be stuffed down to 4 sqft each or less if remove branches. There are some seriously good genetics available in the autos. The best part for me is getting them all hung and dried in the heat of the summer and not having to worry about rains/snows/frosts/humidity for fall harvesting.

It's awesome to see you making the extra effort with netting for these girls. I think the effort will be well worth it because they are turning into some big girls. Great work @solominer.

Yeah got to give these big girls the supports they need.

I think it will be well worth it too.

Hi, good job protecting the cannabis from the wind and preventing its deformation, nice post my friend.👍👍👍

“This is not going to work”

Lol man I fell your sentiment 100%. Securing plants once they’re established already is very hard and tedious work!

I said the same exact thing about a hour ago trying to secure my beans.😂😂

I need to work on it that is for sure.

Hopefully I can leave the netting up in the future and just place the plants under them.

Hello, beautiful crop, I congratulate you, but to make scrog, it is not advisable to put the net lower down and then put a higher net on top so that it holds the branches well from below and you do not suffer loss of branches.

Excuse my English, I use a translator

Hey, thanks.. but I am a little confused by your comment. As SCROG is something that would benefit me. I think something got lost in translation.

That´s some impressive little personal cannabis jungle right there! Looks so lush and healthy :) Good job!

@tipu curate 7

Hehe thanks, they really have come along.

You have done all things to protect your plants...I am really inspired by this 😀😀

Much appreciated, hopefully my gardening skill with these will pass on to other kinds of plants too.

A search for lbry across all Steem like networks found only one yours.

Ah yeah I was really into it a few years back. I ran a server that hosted my own LBRY instance for images, it was fun for awhile.

Perhaps you know of a LBRY interface which is for book content. It's grand that we can upload videos in a way that they cannot be censored by legislation but what about books?

The LBRY software still works but it is just a peer to peer Youtube replacement. An AI tells me that the LBRY blockchain protocol itself supports ebooks.
