When I moved to Lagos state, the Uber ride was one thing I loved so much in fact I hardly use public transportation, I was very happy that I could just relax in a car, just pressing my phone while someone was driving me, but there's a very terrible experience I had and that made me have a second thought about Uber or any rider.
The worst of it all
That faithful day, I wasn't feeling too well, I needed to visit the hospital, so I booked a ride. Normally, I check the type of car and driver from the app, but I couldn't because of my health condition.
When the driver came, I confirmed the car number, and the driver, and I entered. Oh, my goodness, this driver's body odor was the air freshener of the car.
I was already late, so at that point, I couldn't really do much in my mind. I was like, "In the next 20 minutes, I will be out of here. Let me endure", Little did I know that 20 minutes would turn into two hours.
As we just approached the express, there was a roadblock everywhere and security men. I asked what the problem was, they said the president was about to use that track to the airport, so we had to wait until he drove past before everyone could continue their journey.
I screamed, "Heeeee, how will I stay with horrible smell more than I thought?" Even if I came down, I couldn't get another ride with the condition on the ground.
If you live in Lagos and had been unfortunate to move when the president came around you will understand how frustrating that can be.
At this point, the fair was increasing because the ride was still on, and at the same, the smell mixed with AC vapor was becoming unbearable.
At some point I begged the driver to please turn off the Air condition so that I could whine did glass but he said that I couldn't whine down because that area was a dangerous zone where they might snatch my bag from the window, so am left with no option than enjoy the smell and pay a higher bill.
At some point, the driver noticed how uncomfortable I was, and he asked me ", Madam, are you okay?" In my thought, I ask myself "How will I tell this man that his body odor is my problem?" I just replied, "No problem, sir am fine."
My friend called to ask me if I had gotten to the hospital, I told her that I was in a big mess, I didn't know if the driver was an Igbo man so I told my friend to check her WhatsApp, after reading my message she laughed at me and said that we are stocked together, I became more upset and stopped chatting her.
At some point, I couldn't hold it. I now asked the driver, "Please did the rat die inside this car?" He said, "No, I wash and thoroughly clean my car every morning," so I confirmed that the dead rat odor was his body odor.
After some minutes, he asked me, "Is anything smelling in the car?" I said, "Yes", "I can't smell anything," he replied, "How could you? When is your body that is generating the smell?" That was just what I wanted to say, but I changed my mind and remained silent.

After two hours, the road was free, and we continued our ride to the hospital. Finally, we got to the hospital and I jumped out and paid him.
All my life I have never had an encounter with a human that smells that bad, if not when am dressing an old wound in the hospital, mixed up with air condition It was horrible terrible
I can't forget that experience in a hurry because the amount I paid was ridiculous and the time I spent inside the offensive smell.
That's my experience.

This is really hilarious...I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the funny questions the driver innocently laughed. A lot of people actually battle with body odor without knowing. Thank goodness you got to your destination without an additional sickness 😁
