When it comes to the longest period I spent watching a movie, the one that quickly comes to mind is when I watched Money Heist, specifically the Korean version. Before that time, I was into movies, but I watched them only occasionally—even though I watched something every day. Let me explain: I would watch movies every night before going to sleep, but I wouldn’t manage to get through more than four scenes before sleep knocked me out. As a result, I would take a week to finish just one episode, even though I watched it every night. That’s how bad I am with movies, because my daytime is always occupied with heavy work, and by the time night falls, my body becomes so weak that sleep comes easily.
But when I got into Money Heist, I was glued to the screen, and the urge that usually drew me to sleep completely disappeared. The movie had me magnetized to my phone, making me determined to finish it, all the way to the last episode. I even found myself hoping that they wouldn’t get caught in the end. Yes, they were doing something illegal, but I was rooting for their success because of how they bonded inside the bank.
Is there any need to write a review? I don't think so, because the movie is so popular. When I told my friends that I had spent my nights watching Money Heist, they were like, “You’re just watching that now?”
Anyway, as the name implies, the movie is about a robbery, but on a highly professional level. The heist takes place in the country’s treasury, specifically the bank where money is printed. So, they weren’t just going there to steal the existing money; they went there to print as much money as they wanted and escape with the bulk of it without getting caught.
The series comprises 12 episodes, each running around 60 minutes, and guess what? I finished all 12 episodes in just two nights. My eyes and body certainly paid the price during the days that followed. The show is designed in such a way that at the end of every episode, the suspense makes you want to jump straight into the next one to see what happens next. That was exactly my situation. My body, which normally drifts into dreamland the moment I put on a movie, reacted very differently this time. My brain stayed active, trying to predict what would happen next, and my emotions were fully engaged in the story.
There wasn’t a single dull moment in the entire series. I was fascinated from the very beginning, which is why I stayed awake throughout those nights until I was completely satisfied. One thing that really helped me enjoy it was that I hadn’t listened to any spoilers beforehand, even though the series was extremely popular. Also, I loved the fact that I watched the Korean version instead of the original. After I finished, I didn’t feel the need to watch the original version because I felt it was essentially the same, even though people said the original had a different kind of vibe.
Thanks!
