Streaming Vs Downloading

Now, This Got Me.

I can beat my chest so hard and say that ninety-nine point nine percent of people using the digital space belong to the ‘streaming’ league.

Okay, okay, I admit, I may be wrong. But hey, don't you think so?

Now, back to the discussion of the moment: when it comes to movies, music, and games -- YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, or even gaming platforms -- do I prefer to stream on-demand or download for offline access?

Downloading for offline access works better for me, as it fits better into my lifestyle. Here's why: I like giving my undivided attention to a course when attending to it. But with my data connection turned on, and with my eyes fixed on a live streaming program (whatever it is), I may find it hard to concentrate.

I have many pet peeves, and one of them is being distracted while doing something important. Talk about the ads interrupting one's online activities on YouTube, to the untold number of notifications popping up on one's screen, begging for attention. These are something, you know. And because of that, plus accumulated experiences, I've had to welcome the mindset of downloading even though I now know that it's not on all platforms and not, in all cases, ads interrupt your online activity.

Writing this, I'm made to cast my mind back to a tutorial session with a student of mine. I needed to understand a physical concept, so I went on to scout for videos on it. But as I settled on one, I found myself crawling into another platform, hence leaving something important halfway. When I finally gained myself, I clicked the download button and, afterward, went offline to devote myself to it. And as you know, downloading gives one access to repeated viewing.

If I agree, streaming on demand can give you a full experience, getting you more involved in what you do, while downloading may not (if you understand what I mean). With streaming, you are offered convenience and immediate access.

On the contrary, I still feel we'd do better if we did what works better for us. To some people, downloading is the deal. And to some other streaming, it is.

Again, downloading it is, for me!

For me too, I like to download to watch later at my convenience. Having that movie on my phone always give me the confidence that I can watch it later and it's not running away

Thank you for your feedback. You know, I was thinking I was the only one on this table. 😅
