Robotics and AI are advancing at a scary yet exciting rate. I don't follow the latest developments on either closely, but I still manage to be on top of their news because of how rapid the developments seem to be happening. I saw Tesla's Optimus when Elon was showing it off. I was taken aback by the advanced communication skills it had. Using humor effortlessly and making very human jokes. I don't think the future we keep saying robots will be more improved is far from us. With the self-learning they have and the pace at which it's happening, we're going to have human replicas walking among us in the very near future. It's both scary and exciting and scary to think about, but it's inevitable.
I was surprised myself to see Optimus have very human conversations with people at the We, Robot event. Radical, really. Only that some of them might have had humans behind them for that day, as the news had it. But whatever, it won't be long till we're at that point—robots almost indistinguishable from humans at speech.
For sure. We just have to brace ourselves.
