Straight to the point when I say, calls drain me. If you call me and I pick it up, you must be pretty special to me. I don’t bother with calls. Unless it’s three reasons: my mother, business and relationships.

The fun fact is, as much as I despise calls, it has saved my life. Why? My friends were not as warped as I was. So let’s back track to 2020 (post Covid), around September or so. I was religious with my workout routines. I jogged miles and jogged back only to hit the mat with 300 sit ups, lots of burpees, leg raises, squats, fire hydrants and the list goes on and on. By the time I was done, my body and my mind thrummed with so much excitement it almost felt like a high. Yeah, that was my life daily.
As good as it was to be healthy, I never knew it was a double edged sword because, I started feeling the fatigue in small doses. I thought it was my excessive work out routine and decided to tone down a bit. Then my muscles began to ache and it seemed like I got slower and slower.
Mom had gone to place of business and I decided to go see my cousin because I now had all the time in the world since I resigned from a job for a boss obsessed with the colours I had underneath. My cousin went to prepare a meal for us in the kitchen and our friend said she was coming over. Then, the two lived on the same street.
So I sat in my cousin’s room and then thought I should go help her. I stood up and blinding pain knocked me back down. My back, chest, and right leg hurt so much the tears came out almost immediately. It felt like an eternity trying to reach for my phone but I did and then dialled my cousin. No answer. Why? Her phone was with me in the room.
With all this happening, it felt like my spirit was leaving my body, my lungs felt like they would burst as they burned. Then I managed to dial our friend who was supposed to get there and when she picked the only thing I could say was, “Please help me”.
Turns out she went out with someone and they returned in his car. I was carried by a man I don’t know to a small lab because the hospitals had a long procedure before they attended to the sick and my mother was called to join us. After the test, the lab technician came in and looked at me like I had grown two heads and then asked if I was into sports. I said yes and then he said, “That’ll explain how you’re still alive with typhoid of over 400 degrees!”
I was treated immediately but I couldn’t use my right leg for a while. It was paralysed but not forever.

The point remains that calls have saved my life and unless we are pretty damn close, don’t bother calling me. I’d watch it ring and not pick, neither will I call back. Just text me. If you and I are not close, and you expect I will come running to save your life - it better be a text because if you call, you’ll die.
I know those I can call and those I text. Those people also know that if they call me I will drop whatever I’m doing to talk to them. My circle is tight, and if you’re not in it, you’re not in it.

Though not all the time but if someone call me and the person is not my close or loved one's I won't bother to call or answer their call. But thank God you where able to call your friend.

I go with both calls and texts. Well the nature of my job demands that I take calls so I don't have a choice. But I can still ignore if they become too disturbing.
Yeah there are jobs like that. Especially when it comes to the order business. Why I have a phone designated to that so I know a customer is calling.

I hate calls as well. The only time someone is not close to me and I pick that call, you must have lady luck on your side. There are criterias one must have met before hearing my voice over the phone.

I'm also not a call person but the nature of my job has my cellular ringing more than normal,but I already know the idle ones on my list and I avoid their calls like a plague.
