Hey guys happy weekend, trust you all are having a good and stress-free weekend. It's always a delight writing in this community because the prompts are always relatable, they're either something that you have gone through before or something you go through every day and I find that really cool.

While in my junior secondary school, in one of our science classes, we were asked to each write a little project on the topic 'Birth Control Measures, its Benefits and Consequences'. My teacher asked that we surf the internet to get information regarding this topic to aid in answering this project that we would be submitted the next class.

Before this time, I had not really used a computer, the only time I had come close to using it was during some of our computer classes, where they taught us the basic use of a computer system. During these classes, we were usually in the computer room with maybe one or two instructors to guide us, and the time was usually too short to grasp sufficient information. So you can imagine how I felt when I was given such a project.

During this time, mobile phones with internet were not a thing, so if you had such a task, you had to visit a cyber cafe, pay for your time, and make sure you used the time you paid for well, because if you did not finish what you intended to do during the time you paid for, you would have to pay for an extra time.

So I located a cafe close to my house and I told them what I wanted to do, I was advised to pay for one hour. I made the payment, and I began. I had initially told the person in charge that I didn't really know my left from my right when it came to using a computer system and as such I would need help so he assigned someone to assist me, and I began my project.

I had taken with me a notebook to write down the points I would be taking. The person who was assigned to me showed me how to search for any particular topic of my choice so I could be able to surf the net myself. After a few trials, I got the hang of everything and continued on my own. By the time my one hour was completed, I had gotten enough information that I needed to develop my project. The next step was for me to go home, take what I had gotten articulate, and outline them properly to get good work. I planned on coming back another day to have my work typed and ready for presentation.

I went home and drew up an article using the information I had gathered and then added some finishing touches to it. The next day I was back at the cyber cafe for typing and printing of my work. This particular task involved someone else (a worker in the cafe) doing the typing for me, as I didn't really know how to type at that time, after the typing was complete, he counted how many pages he had to type for me and charged me per page typed.

This was really an experience for me, because, before this time, I didn't know how to use a search engine, but with the help of the assistant that attended to me, I learned something new that helped me later in life.

I was able to make a good and beautiful presentation as a result of the information I had gotten from the internet.
This was how my first experience with the internet went, and how was yours?

I would like to know how your first experience with either the internet or mail went, please feel free to share in the comment section.

Thank you for stopping by 🌹

Cyber Cafes were so special back then. It's crazy to think that we used to pay for internet in that manner. Thank you for sharing. I invite you to engage other authors.

Yeah it is, thanks for development, now we can do all of those things from the comfort of our homes.

I invite you to engage other authors.

I will.

Who didn't love using cyber cafés then. It was another avenue for the love birds to chat and send love messages, apart from the letters. 😂. Meanwhile it was safe too.
My first time online was sending an email. I was amazed at how I could send a message to someone online and it was delivered within seconds.

Lol, I had that feeling too the first time I sent one, it was surreal.
Thanks for stopping by.

You're welcome. Have a great day

A lot has really changed and it’s gets better every single day. Thanks for sharing Fredaa

The person who helped you was really nice. I’m kind of surprised you weren’t asked to pay anything for the assistance. That’s really nice.
