Sharing my experiences with online rides is tantamount to writing a very long post that you all might just get tired of reading.
I have had my fair share of good rides, bad rides, hilarious rides, and mind-blowing rides and the story I am about to share with you all belongs to the mind-blowing category.
That afternoon, I was running late for a wedding. The sun was shining and I had just left the makeup studio and to top it all my phone battery was low. All I wanted was to get to the wedding venue in no time without stressing too much or my makeup getting ruined.
I booked my ride and a few minutes later the car arrived. A clean but old Corolla, I entered, buckled my seatbelt, and said Hi to the driver with a smile on my face
A few minutes after I entered the car the driver turned to me with a big smile and asked me, “My sister, have you given your life to Christ?”. I usually expect anything whenever I book a ride as most drivers do not understand boundaries but being asked if I had given my life to Christ was a first yet I answered politely.
My reply was a cue for him to start preaching about the word of God. He started by preaching but deviated to talking about pastors. The preaching was not the problem but him giving a brief biography of some pastors and finding fault in them was the problem.
This driver continued going back and forth with these pastor’s stories that it felt like other than accusing these men of God he really didn’t know what to say about the word of God.
“My dearest sister, things are happening now. Giving, prosperities, miracles, is only what these so-called men of God talk about these days.” I looked at my phone, hoping to pretend I was busy, but my battery was already low. There was no escape as I was stuck with him
At first, I found it funny. I had entered cars/buses with preaching drivers before, but this man was different. He wasn’t just talking, he was castigating preachers and expecting me to join him.
Halfway through the trip, he surprised me yet again.
“Okay, let us pray.” He said.
I turned to look at him. Pray? While driving?
Before I could say anything, I saw him trying to close his eyes. I pleaded that he at least prayed with his eyes open but He smiled and asked me not to worry. At that point, I honestly thought it was a prank but he did try to do it again before I shouted at him.
He smiled again and agreed to pray with his eyes open. I was scared to my bones, I was wondering if I had entered a crazy man’s car.
He lifted one hand and started praying for me, my family, and even my unborn children. All this while, he was still driving.
When we finally reached my destination, I let out a deep breath. The man turned to me again and smiled and said “My sister, God loves you, reason he put you in my car today.”
I nodded, still in shock. I didn’t know if I had just received a blessing or survived something dangerous. One thing was sure, I would never forget that ride. Wanting to close your eyes to pray while driving? Does this even happen in movies?! Lord have mercy.

Was he expecting a miracle to happen while he closes his eyes to pray for you. Like the holy Spirit will take over the car. We take unnecessary risk. ThankGod you cautioned him.
