Things I do to keep my phone battery alive for longer

in Digital Lifestyle23 hours ago

My mobile phone is my line of communication needless to say I am a person living in the urban jungle and in order to survive and navigate the lanes and bylanes of life I have to rely heavily on my mobile phone and its mobile network.

Battery Life was longer in the days of the dumb phone

Back in the days where there were no smartphones and I had my Nokia 3310 which incidentally was my first phone life was a lot easier.
My phone was a means of communication which meant making and receiving phone calls on the go and communicating via the SMS or short messaging service.
Back then the basic phone had a battery of a much smaller capacity but so were the demands put on it.

Now my android phone is a battery guzzler

The phone boasts of a large screen

  • It has more battery power
  • It has larger storage space
  • It has more RAM
  • It has more powerful camera
  • It has more powerful processor
  • It has more apps preinstalled
  • My phone has the ability to run multiple apps simultaneously
With so many features the phone is a power guzzler.
I remember when I got my current phone I did not install facebook on my phone for the first week as I was transitioning to the new device and learning its features.
At this point my battery would last a good 2-3 days.
Then as I got all my apps running on this phone my battery started to drain a lot faster and I began to charge my phone 2 to 3 times a day.
Facebook is not the only culprit here. There are messaging apps and video playing apps that consume a lot of battery power.

How to charge my phone when you are on the go

Looking for charging stations is the way to go for many. For others it is about using a power bank.
I have devised my own survival strategy in this regard.

  • Stop and close the unnecessary apps in the background
The modern day android OS is designed to meet the multitasking needs of the individual user so it lets you load and run multiple apps at the same time. Not only do they jostle for RAM but also drain the battery faster.
As I rule, I try to close an app once I have finished using it.
I also try to uninstall the apps I don't need.
This helps free up more space and run the phone more efficiently.
  • Remove the bloatware
When I bought this phone I realized it came with a lot of preinstalled apps which made no sense to me.
I installed most of them one by one and this helped me increase the efficiency of the phone.

Final thoughts

These are the things I do to maximize the battery life of my phone
