All Shades of Dark

in Digital Lifestyle3 days ago

I love how everyone wants to do something differently for the new year. Everyone wants to be a better version of themselves. More refined in the things they do and all about them. In all honesty, I look at them a tad sadly, knowing that less then forty percent would actually keep up with all those things they planned. Many of them would slip back into bad habits barely three days later. And who can even blame them for it?

So when it comes to redesigning my phone or computer layout for the year, I will be taking this prompt from the hypothetical point of view. I’m big on doing new things and having goals and trying out different things when a new year begins, but I don’t think my need to be the best I could possibly be transcends to something like my phone or PC layout, lol. Which is the reason for the hypothetical view.

I’m a sucker for the dark mode setting. Before my Dad got his smart phone (because he kept stalling on getting one even when he could afford to buy whichever he wanted), he would use my phone to watch YouTube or things like that, and keep exclaiming, “Why is everything so dark?” “Is this evening a screen? You should have turned the phone off, so that we know that you don’t want to see anything,” lol. There was no need explaining that this was the brightest I could leave it at so that my eyes wouldn’t suffer more than it already is. So, I’d just laugh.

All this to say, I choose dark mode for any thing smart related. I’d see a pretty wallpaper and I’d be like, This would looked excellent if it were darker. Or *How I wish I could get this kind of layout but maybe black or grey.” More recently, however, I like brighter colours. Not bright like pink or yellow, but maybe lighter grey, mocha or caramel brown or midnight/royal blue. Seeing that reflected in my phone’s layout would make me happy for real. Obviously, I would get used to it in time and it may lose its thrill, but for those first few weeks, that would be pretty ideal.

I’m very organised about my layout. I don’t know but too many, what’s it called, pages? On the screen is a turn off for me. Why do you have like four pages of home screen with different apps when you can organise them into one or two? That’s just me, anyway. My home page is quite organized with everything I need on the home screen because I don’t like to look for things. As it stands, I don’t remember the last time I scrolled up to where all the Apps are because everything is right there in the home screen.

My dream layout for the new year would probably be those colours I mentioned switching intermediately. Nothing bright, but a homey feel to them all. And then apps that can sort themselves out depending on what I need at the moment and into folders as soon as they’re gotten. As you can see the name of my folders are in Korean. I won’t be explaining what they mean because it’s not your phone, and hence not your problem, hehe. But I’m glad I got to talk about this because I forget that I can even change my layout most time, so I got a new theme for my phone. It may last all of two days because I’m not even sure how well I like this one.

For my PC, I’ve been far too lazy to get a defined layout for it. I know it would take my user-experience to a whole level of comfort. Let’s just see. My biggest inspiration is nothing but aesthetics. I just want to be happy when I pick up my phone and have a sense of peace. That’s pretty much it.
