The digital skill I have a better knowledge of ..

Hello everyone,

I wouldn’t say I’ve fully mastered any digital skill yet, but I do have some foundational knowledge. For example, I know HTML and CSS to a very lagrge extent, and I’ve even explored a little bit of JavaScript. However, I haven’t been consistent with coding that much. The main reason is that I don’t have a functional laptop at the moment. I’ve been planning to save up for a better one for a long time now, and I’m very much hopeful that by next year, I’ll be able to get back to learning and improving my skills.

Anyways, back when I was more active in web programming, I worked on a couple of small projects. One of them was replicating existing websites, which helped me practice and sharpen my skills. Although these were not original designs, they were significant for me because they gave me a sense of accomplishment. I also dabbled in some minor website designs, which boosted my confidence and taught me how to think like a developer.

One project that really stands out is a replica I created of a website called "Flextstart." I built it entirely from scratch using just HTML and CSS, and it was a milestone for me because it was the first official website I created without any help. Even though, it may sound simple now, it wasn’t easy at the time. I had to learn and figure things out along the way, which made completing it all more rewarding.

To create the Flextstart replica, I used an app called Visual Studio Code, which is actually a good tool for coding. If you’ve never used it before, it’s essentially a code editor that makes writing and testing your code easier. I started by writing the structure of the website in HTML and then styled it with CSS. For example, I learned how to place writings and images in one box in the html code and then separate it in the CSS by using what we call the display : flex;

What made this project special wasn’t just the outcome but the process of figuring things out on my own. I remember how excited I was to see the page come together, even though it was just a simple design when it comes to web programming. It felt like a big step in my journey as a beginner in web development.

Another project I worked on was replicating the Chipper Cash website. This one was much more challenging than the Flextstart replica. I haven’t actually finshed with doing it . It just had more complex layouts and designs that I struggled to replicate. Honestly, I haven’t completed it yet, but the process taught me a lot about patience and problem-solving in web design.

Although , I haven’t done much lately, these projects remain a reminder of what I can achieve with dedication and the right tools. Once I get a proper laptop like an Hp, I plan to dive back into coding, try to refresh my memory , take on more challenging projects, and hopefully start creating original designs on my own. I just hope everything works out soon enough.

So for anyone starting out, I’d say don’t underestimate the power of small wins. Even trying to replicate a simple website can teach you a lot and boost your confidence. It’s all part of the journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.

Thanks for reading.

I really hope you get that laptop you need, I really want to go into web development and I'm already making plans for that in 2025. It's a skill that's not easy to attain but once mastered it's really rewarding.
