Staying connected

Hello everyone!

To a very large extent, one of the qualities I look out for when buying a phone is battery capacity, and I am among those who believe in the 'written' battery capacity of a phone, even though the quality will fade over time—which seldom happens. What do I mean? You can't imagine me, in this era, buying a phone with a 2,500mAh battery capacity. What am I going to use it for? The previous phone I used before this one had a 6,000mAh battery, and when I was set to buy my current phone, I wanted an upgrade—say, 7,000mAh or possibly 8,000mAh—but unfortunately, there was nothing like that. Although I am currently using a 5,000mAh battery, I initially wanted to go for 6,000mAh, but I couldn't find such a battery capacity with the brand I wanted. Because people testified that my phone’s battery lasts long, I had to succumb to it.

But how long does it last?

It lasts well—say, 100% can manageably see me through 18 hours, and that is because I am a heavy user. My phone is always with me and actively engaged in one activity or another, especially in this era where I am into Airdrops. If my battery goes off, it will feel as though I am lifeless, which I do not allow to happen. I do everything possible to keep my phone on—not just to answer calls, no, I keep it on for active use. So even when my phone is at 5%, I still use it as if it were at 80% until it finally hits 1%, and then I start running helter-skelter to charge it.

Before now, I was always in this helter-skelter rush to charge my phone. I would move around looking for any place where a generator was on, just to charge it—especially going to betting shops that have electricity. I hate the fact that we do not have steady electricity in my city, which is very frustrating. To reduce the stress of moving around to charge my phone and to cut down on patronizing pay-charge centers, I got into the power bank world, and that has been my saving grace.

Just as some of my friends laugh at me, I currently own four power banks—33,000mAh, 30,000mAh, and two 20,000mAh ones. Although the two 20,000mAh power banks have overworked and no longer store power as they used to, they have been very helpful. If I had the chance to add more to the list, I would, because these gadgets have saved me a lot—a whole lot of stress. Of course, I know I will add more before the year ends, as the two 20,000mAh power banks are gradually fading off. Ever since I got my most recent one in November last year (2024), I have not had to go out to charge my phone or any of my power banks, nor have I taken them to pay-charge centers.

I know you want to ask how I have been managing to charge them. Well, I bought fast chargers for each of them, and anytime public electricity happens to come, I charge them. I also power my generator almost on a regular basis to ensure they remain charged.

I do not know about you, but this is what I call soft life. Having my phone charged and not having to worry about it is a big flex.

How do I maintain their longevity (both phone and power banks)?

My phone is used to overworking, and sometimes, it gets very hot. Although I still occasionally charge while using it, most of the time, I allow it to charge without usage. This process charges it faster, and I have also noticed that it helps preserve the strength of the battery. Same thing applies to the power banks too, I don't use my phone while charging from the power bank except it's unavoidable at that moment.

I have a friend who always tells me that she doesn't have a power bank and she's a Nigerian. Gosh! @wongi, I'm jealous of you and your state. Lol

@whatmidesays you can come and read now. I've joined the contest

I'm not surprised by the four powerbanks because I know a person who had the same amount and his reason was simple; while using one, he can be charging the others.

Gosh! @wongi, I'm jealous of you and your state

Also, there's no need to be😂, you have four functioning powerbanks plus one more in the nearest future. You're all good 😄

Nothing can be compared to electricity you know. I mean the NEPA own. Or haven't you heard that Nepa is that real original light? Lol😂

Knowing how bad the electricity situation in this country is, i wouldn't judge you for owning four powerbanks.
But bro, four is a lot😅😂

Over here, we are living at the mercy of this power company. They give us light whenever they're happy... of course it's hard to see a Nigerian man that's happy always 😂

100% can manageably see me through 18 hours, and that is because I am a heavy user. My phone is always with me and actively engaged in one activity or another

Wow, if you're a heavy user and your phone still lasts this long, that's a GOOD battery!

I still use it as if it were at 80% until it finally hits 1%, and then I start running helter-skelter to charge it.

Very relatable 😂😂

I do not know about you, but this is what I call soft life.

I also want to experience this soft life oh, now that I'm moving away from Jos, I go start dey emulate you.

Your city (home town) has issue with electricity? Better remain in Jos. Just allow someone to marry you there and that's all🧐

Really, there's a Nigerian who doesn't have a power bank ? That's coool.😁😁

Omo, this your soft life is what I'm looking for. Four power banks.....chai

Lol😂

You too can own four power banks.
But it seems your city has no trouble with electricity. That's the softest life

Who told you?

We suffer power outage repeatedly. You cannot survive without powerbank in my city p

Your Lagos is not lagosing at all 😂

At all ooo
