My Online Shopping Chronicles: Wins and Woes

The conveniences that online shopping brings have been my driving force in patronizing these online vendors; however, I have had both my great and not-too-bad experiences shopping online.

Since I discovered Jumia, it's been my favorite app for shopping online. I love the fact that they allow one to shop items and pay on delivery. I read their return policies as well, and I was okay with it. I immediately ordered for a center table, the breakable glass type. That was in 2017, I think. The cost of the table was really affordable, and I thought maybe it's a mistake, but surprisingly, within 3 days, I received my package inside my home from a dispatch rider. The guy helped me to couple the parts of the table, and I paid on delivery.

I loved the table, especially the convenience I got receiving what I ordered without stress and at such an affordable price, $8 then.

My first experience motivated me to keep shopping online and with Jumia, and so I kept scrolling through the market place on the app, checking for items I love. Then I saw a hair, looking so shiny and beautiful. The image of the lady wearing the hair got me capitated too, and I quickly imagine having the same fitting of the hair just like the lady wearing the hair on the app. Boom, I ordered the hair right away and chose pay on delivery.

I didn't think about paying online for this product because it's something I need to check the texture to be sure it's actually what I want. Lo and behold, the dispatch rider came to my home with the hair, and when I received it, I quickly checked the texture; oh boy..it was like a sponge 🧽, There was no way I could manage it because it's not worth the price in a way. Besides, I love products that can last longer for me, not go-and-come products. So I immediately gave it back to the rider and cancelled my order.

Another experience I had shopping online was when I bought this handbag.

I have been craving to own a nude color handbag, so on that day, I stumbled upon a flash sale of this item, and I was like yes, this is it, my dream color of handbag to own among many others in my wardrobe. Then, I was nursing my baby and needed a bag that could contain my baby items while going out. Due to how much I loved this bag, I didn't pay attention to the size at all.

This time, I didn't choose the pay-on-delivery option but paid online immediately to avoid hearing "sold out". With my high expectations, I received this bag and got disappointed in the size. It's beautiful, no doubt, quality, and affordable, but it didn't serve the purpose of which I ordered it for in the first place, but it's fine.

My last online shopping experience I will share here is still with Jumia. I needed to change my center table, and since I had a great experience with the first one, I didn't hesitate to go again.

As expected, they delivered within 3 days, and I loved the quality of the table; just the way I saw it online was how it was received.

Wrapping up, I think I have been very careful of what I order online, and that's why I haven't had so much of a bad experience. For instance, anything that has to do with texture, I better get it offline so I can ascertain the quality very well and take my decision, but then we can't always get things right no matter how careful we are, but at least reduce the extent of our regrets, lolz.

In the case of buying a product online, there are risks. Some products are good and some can be not worthy buying. I think in case the product is not good, there should be a refund option for the customer if there is some fault or quality issue with the product.

!PIZZA

I don't think there's refund of funds if the customer doesn't like a product but u can return it and pick another product
Maybe there's fund refund options anyway but I am yet to find out

That's the thing with shopping online 😪😪
Sometimes you get what you really want and better but sometimes you don't, or even get scammed sef 🫠

No doubt..it happens with online shopping 🛍️

That bag no fit less than 200k, cheers! Share us some of this shopping money abeg

Hahaha 😂😂🤣🤣

Nooo, the bag was #8,000

For real

It's not that too expensive back then though
Lol

I understand lol. Unless it's something super rare I don't shop on jumia though.

Jumia is my go to platform too but one thing that I will never order from them are clothes, hairs and shoes.

Yes.. clothes, hairs and shoes are my no go areas nowadays

Jumia is one of the best online shopping centres I know but sometimes their products are not of high quality. But generally, I think their services are great!

I think it depends on the seller u meet... personally, I haven't had too bad experience with Jumia
