I am a chosen

Technology has been a great source of help to humans in different areas of life such as in the health sector, academic sector, economic sector, and many more. Social media is a not-to-believe space because it is so easy to ruin one's life through social media, this is the main reason why I prefer my life outside of social media. I rarely post only on social media platforms, and if I do, it's not about the happenings in my life. Those who post all their daily activities on social media are at risk of ruining their future, if not the present because the present might look fun.

The world had become a place where I should say, I was exposed to lots of crazy stuff, especially online. Religious practices have become something we joke and cruise about; it is now so easy to mislead those who don't have a firm foundation in what they believe in. Lots of false teachings are being promoted on social media all in the name of correction or counselling. I can say that social media is a place where information is easy to disseminate due to a large number of patronage, and this cannot be curbed; in fact, more is still to come.

Recently, there has been a new trend on social media, which is the slogan "I am a chosen." When I first heard this, I wondered where it came from because, in Nigeria, I knew there was always a slogan for each month. I never knew the real story about this new slogan until I started seeing different posts about it on people's statuses and social media then I understood better. Many inappropriate acts have been displayed in our world today, hiding under the camouflage of religion. I was amazed when I saw the genesis of the slogan "I am a chosen." It took me time to believe such a religious center existed where I heard heart-shattering testimonies which are just too difficult to believe.

Can anyone imagine being carried by a lion, and after shouting "I am chosen" thrice the lion dropped such a person peacefully and uttered the word "goodbye" when it's not a Disney cartoon such as Lion King? Quite right, believers believed in the mighty power of their God and that nothing is impossible for them to do, but still, some things are just too unreal to be real. Note, I am not castigating any religious practice, but then a spade should be called a spade. Now, social media has helped us in public publicizing the wrong part of whatever such religion stands for. If I'm to ask, who is at fault? Are we going to judge the social media or the religion or religious organization behind this slogan?

If asked, everyone will have one or two to say about the pros and cons of social media. To this occurrence, are we going to say it's a pro or a con? Whichever one it is, social media cannot be shut out of the human world; it has become an important part of human life, and making use of it the right way is an individual's choice. I once had a friend whose whole daily activities were live on social media. The most annoying part of it all is her relationship status. She is in a relationship with her lover, which is a good thing, but I think it shouldn't be publicized on social media; she posts virtually everything on social media, including when they are intimate, such as kissing. I do feel irritated pitying her future if she eventually didn't end up with her present lover. What if she becomes someone important in the future and all these things are being used against her, then who would she blame, the social media?

Anyway, we all have our choices to make, but making the right ones when using any social media platform would be a good one to avoid stories that touch the heart later in the future because some memories might not be able to be deleted, which might cost one a lifetime opportunities which would lead to regret.

Thanks for your time, and your comments will be appreciated.

I watched one of those I am a chosen videos and the lady was like an armed robber shot her husband 20 times or so and he didn’t die because he said I am a chosen.

Social media is really funny because most people also believe in these things.

As for your friend with her relationship stuff on social media, just leave her to do her thing before they call you a hater.

Regardless, I am a chosen and you are a chosen.😂😂

Abioooo, we are a chosen 😂😂😂

😂😂😂

You are not a chosen, this woman. Better stop this.😂

I am 😂

Lol. I try as much as possible not to get involved in all that chosen stuff though. Whether it's right or wrong, it's not my business and I'll leave the judgement for who is the true owner of the Church.

And as for your friend, please don't add mouth. Everyone will learn in time.😂
