Growing up in the neighborhood back then was an interesting one, though back then there's nothing like internet talkless of browsing the internet, but the kind of relationship that exist among every member of the community cannot be overemphasized. In fact we really enjoyed our prime age back in the days. As a young boy back then, the game of soccer mostly among the vast growing youth population really made our days.
Though, like I said before, we really enjoyed our youthful days back then, but the advent of technology and most especially mobile phone brought another kind of life to the entire community. It's like a joke when technology came in, I personally couldn't believe it then, but alas! It was real. Though, back then, we only use our phone to call and receive calls plus text messages. But it got to a time when java and Symbian phones were introduced to us and it's then we experience life to it fullest.
Though, I was not opportuned to have access to both the java and symbian phone then, but I have friends that are using this phone, some of them with these phones were already conversant with how to operate and even surf the internet with their java or Symbian phone which I used to wonder how it works. One of them Femi has this Sony Ericsson phone that I so much love to have, but i couldn't since i was not that buoyant by then. This friend of mine has opened his own facebook and 2go account then.
So, when I saw him chatting on both Facebook and his 2go app, I was astonished and I went to him to help me out, he said in what, I told him that i too wanted to open a facebook account, but his response was that without having a java or Symbian phone, I wouldn't be able to chat nor enjoy surfing the internet, so, he advised me to get a phone and that until then, he would not help me to open a Facebook account.
So, when I realized he was not willing to help me out, I went to a senior and it's senior Gbenga that promised to help me open the Facebook account, I told him I didn't have a phone, but he said, that should not be a problem as we can go to the cyber cafe to open the account, he promised me that we will do this the following weekend, so, I couldn't wait till then, I was doing the counting down and thank God, the day came and I went to meet senior Gbenga at his place and we both went to the cafe together.
At the cafe, we bought minutes, which was an hour time, just to browse, surf and register my Facebook account, before we started with the registration, senior Gbenga asked for my details and how I wanted him to do it, I gave him my details and he registered me without taking much of our time. So, immediately he registered me, he sent a friend request to himself and I also asked him to help me send a friend request to Femi who had previously refused to help me registered with his phone, I was so happy at the registration and when I got to school the following Monday, I was feeling proud and I went to tease Femi. I asked if he's accepted my friend request as I couldn't know because I had no phone to check if he has, he reluctantly said yes, but also teased me on how I will be making use of the account since I had no phone. But I replied him that I will be going to the cyber cafe to be doing the thing.
So, since then, I used to go to the cafe myself to surf the internet, replied my Facebook chat, send and also accept my friend requests. Thank God I have been taught all these things by senior Gbenga on the day he helped me registered my account. So, going to internet on my own was my first and personal Official time online. Though it comes with me sacrificing my money for food then but it's a long life experience.
This is my entry to the weekly digi-prompt.
Thanks for reading.

Good that you got help. I also didn't know anything about Facebook, but my friend helped me open an account. Back then, we all used to visit cafes to browse the internet.
Thanks for stopping bye boss
I'm here thinking how painfully exciting it was to sacrifice some of your feeding money and also to make the trip to a cyber cafe just so you could login to your Facebook account. Ah! Technology and advancements have done us much good.
Yes ooo
You're welcome
Senior Gbenga sounds like a nice person and it was nice of him to teach you all that. I’m kind of impressed that you created the account even without a phone and always had to go to the cafe just to access it. Wow! That’s another level of “going for what you want”.
Yes ooo, thanks for stopping by boss
