We had a color television growing up and that time as compared to now were the olden days.
We would always rent or buy cassettes to watch films, I remember we had a DVD player and my siblings and i had our favorite movies to watch. I loved watching romcoms, my sister's favorite movie genre was action movies and my brother's crime documentaries
So yeah, fighting for the remote was a battle, an everyday war
We later came to an agreement, we had a time table. Monday for romcoms, Tuesday for action movies, Wednesday for crime documentaries and it went on like that
Thinking about it now, what a beautiful time!
Comparing then to now, I would say life is so much easier, this age, we have plasma tvs and we don't have to buy or rent cassettes. The world has evolved which i think is a good thing
Although i would say, I miss those times because even with the remote battle, it brought me and siblings closer and we had no choice other than to compromise and be a little understanding and selfless
And guess what, I fell in love with action movies and crime documentaries because i had no choice other than to watch them on days that are not my turn, figured crime documentaries and action movies are not all that bad

I think with plasma tvs, life is better. Infact these days nobody even watches movies on televisions again.
Netflix and other movies applications has taken over. As long as you have the application on your phone, you can see whatever movie you like
No more everyday tv remote battle and as much as i miss those times. It feels good to be able to watch whatever genre of movie you want, whenever you like.
