From "E Don Come" to Netflix: How Far We've Come...

Good day to everyone in the digital world, hehehe. A lot has really happened for real in our many sectors of life that someone who isn't fast enough to learn or flexible enough to adapt will just get behind with the old gadgets.

I can't even forget my experience with those old TV antennas in a hurry, lol. It was always a tag team activity to successfully adjust them with its height as long as anything you can think of because it was believed that the closer it was to the sky, the better the signal it would catch or so my dad made me to understand.

Especially after it rained, it is always a struggle to access the television channels. My brother would go to the backyard where our antenna was mounted, while I stayed back in the sitting room leaving the window open to bridge the communication distance.

He would rotate the antenna while I shouted updates; "E don come!", "E never come!" and sometimes "E come but e don comot"!" Writing about it now brings up memories and I'm just rolling in laughter....

Indeed, technology has been advancing greatly and in a short period too because I remember countless times they brought light at night and despite wanting to watch the television will be forced to sleep back simply because the antenna refused to get me a good channel to watch, not to even talk of it coming after the whole begging of my parents to allow me watch at those hours.

How can I forget our old Akira television? I don't even know how we enjoyed watching from that Television that has the screen size almost the same with my phone, lol, but we did enjoy it then. It didn't even help matters as it will be busy making that constant shiiii shhiiiiiiiiiiiiiii noise until you are able to align the antenna properly which was quite disturbing for real.

I was never a fan of watching football growing up, I preferred playing the football with my peers rather than sitting down to watch. I believed people who watched those were people who didn't have the ambition of playing professional and little me had big visions of ending up in Stamford bridge one day and thousands of eyes looking at me as I do my favourite celebration after scoring goals, lol.
Unlike me, my elder brother loved watching football a lot .

Fast forward to when the Mortal Kombat movie came out and I heard tales of how interesting the fighting scenes were. Determined to watch it, I saved up for more than a month to buy it and finally did. I was patiently waiting for when they will bring light while playing football with my friends. Not long from when we started we had the shout alarm, NEPAAA!!! which notified us that the light has been brought.
I quickly ran back home to watch my Mortal Kombat and some of my friends joined me. We started the movie and it was going well until it was time for football match, my brother out of nowhere came and told me to give him the remote.

At first, I didn't realize he wanted to change the channel because I was too engrossed in the Liu kang's fight scene to think straight, lol. But before I knew it, the television was switched to a football match channel.
I couldn't accept that and in few minutes, fight bursted which I started and of course, I was beaten to pulp because there was no one to separate us, lol. What a day it was, one I can't forget in a bit .

Life is so much better now compared to what we went through those days; just the difference in pictures even says it all not to talk of the whole lightening it now adds to our sitting rooms. Today, just from the comfort of your phone, you can access your DStv channels, Netflix, Showmax and many other streaming applications where there are constant influx of movies and series so big that you can never finish all of them.

Even though there is still a break in transmission with the satellite dishes during bad weathers especially during rainfalls, it's nothing compared to the struggle of the old antenna days.
We've truly come a long way indeed, and I'm glad to witness it.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍
