It was just a while back when there was network problems and people were unable to access the internet and their social media pages. Until we got to know that it was almost a nationwide issue,a lot of people were terrified.
I was, too, but primarily because I couldn't perform my job. Good thing my work management felt the heat too so we didn't get to be queried.
Network problem can be very troubling. So many times, I've been in positions where I had to worry because of it. Sometimes, it's embarrassing and other times, it almost sets me on the panic mode.
Recently, I had to purchase new Sim cards from different networks cause I couldn't get a stable connection to work with. I own a mifi, and a few times, I still get let down. It can become something else.
I remember one time when i had to fill and submit some documents to meet a deadline. I had been postponing actually getting through with it because there was enough time in my hands. About two months.
One week to the deadline, it somehow came to mind that I had not done so. I wasn't very worried because I knew that it wasn't something that was difficult nor time consuming.
I checked the registration page about days later to find that there were required documents that I'd need but didn't have. I could have known that bit if only i had gone through the page months earlier and rsad through requirements. I started running helter-skrlter like a headless chicken. One of the documents required two weeks before it could be processed.
I didn't have two weeks. By that time, I barely had three days before the whole submission deadline. I had to start calling, looking for anyone who was in that system or knew anyone working there who could help me speed up everything. A friend did, and he pulled some strings, although it did leave a big dent in my wallet. I received the document on the exact day of the submission deadline and went on to scan all the documents in order to convert them to pdf.
It was already late by this time, say, past 10pm. I had little time in my hands, so I started uploading the documents. The first one was successfully, the second was taking ages as was the third. After loading for over five minutes, the upload status read, 'unable to upload.' I refreshed the page and got the, 'unable to access server,' message. I refreshed the page a dozen more times, I turned airplane mode off and on, I tried using my phone, all to no avail. It was late at night and impossible for me to go out and look for an alternative. I began to pace the ground of my compound.
I could see the network pop in an out. My heart beat so fast cause that was an important step in my life. Long story short, I was unable to make the registration. To say I felt mad at myself was an understatement. What annoyed me most was the network coming back up at about 2am that morning.
Well, lucky for me, the registration was extended by another week. Trust me, I made sure to get things done on the first day of extension.
Thanks for stopping by
