Now to think of it , I remember that TV we usually had to hit the head before it came on,it wasnt a white and black TV , it was coloured, those box type, yeah it wasn't flat screen, I think those flat screen TV were not in the vogue then, No it was mostly those who were very wealthy that had flat screen TVs ,I remember the TV being are most precious possession in the house at that time we always cherished it I remember my dad always taking a rag to clean the TV wherever it was dusty.
Also there was a time the TV stopped working for a while and the house was just empty, my dad took it to the engineer to fix it up and ever since then, after it was fixed the TV never remained the same, we always had to tap on the head of the TV for it to show the colors as it will always show Shadows of the image, so we developed tapping skills hahaha.
Our tapping skills knew no bounds at this. I remember we would be watching the TV and at that point it would turn into Shadows ,then my sisters and I would rush to go and tap the TV so that it could come back on again.
Unknown to us we had been destroying the life of this TV, our so much loved possession the tapping increased as the Shadows came more often
My dad will shout “ You guys want to spoil the television? only one person should tap it ,just one person he would say.
My sisters and I weren't the listening type when it came to that television, because the television was where we watched all our favorite programs.
This TV showed us Shege promax, at the time we least expected it, the TV stopped working, it was coming on but it wasn't displaying images, I remember then that the house was so boring because the TV wasn't working, my dad then said “Eh You guys have finally destroyed the life of the television now, you guys should rest, I don't have money to buy television now ,even if I have money now I will use to pay your school fees.
I guess that was the last time we saw that particular television, though the TV did serve us, like it really did, now that I remember I think the TV stayed for more than 5 years if I am not mistaken. That Wasn't easy because we had to look for other activities that would keep us captivated, motivated and enticed. That TV really did make my childhood because that was where the fight came from, me and my sisters fighting for which station we wanted to watch ,the movie we wanted to watch, who was going to hold the remote ,who was going to go and hit the head of the television.
All this made my childhood , it was a memorable childhood with this particular box TV, funny how a gadgets can hold so much memory even when it has gone, it still hold so much value to to us as a family ,I doubt if my sister's will remember this television, but if course what matters is that we had a good childhood and we would have something to remember for the rest of our lives
Now I can't even remember the last time I sat to say I want to watch TV , enough there's a TV in the house , even the kids herr prefer watching stuff in ipad , until i recently had to seize it as it wasn't making them very obedient to people at home
The only person interested in our TV now is my dad , as he would hunt for news on it. Life then and now has really changed and we can't blame anybody about it.

This is really true. Nowadays everywhere are screen. And no one want Big TV either. Before small black and white TV is more fun to all. Relaxing time for the family.
Yeah thats true but now Everyone is on their phone
@treasuree you are right!
Hitting the TV does the job many times but gradually spoils it. Our stayed around for many years even after we got a replacement.
Ours didn't sadly
We never had to hit our TV but omoh, we had to struggle with buttons since the Tv receptor wasn't recognising instructions from the remote control. All the same, it was fun lol... Those were the days lol
Oh .
See those days ehn
Back then in early 2000s, I doubt there were anything like flat TVs. Everything was curvy and protruded 😅
But omo thank God for the technology Advancements if not we might not be where we are today in terms of TV transformation
you and your siblings had such tapping skills I imagine how frustrating that can be when you are watching an action seen of a movie and the color starts fading out 😎
