Yesterday I had to go to the hospital to visit my brother who is in ICU with pneumonia - It took quite a bit to prepare to interact with THE DEAD. I don't know what part the world you live in, but here in the Vancouver, BC area the masks just won't quit. Yes, "collective" cognitive dissonance which I feel can be accounted for as the residue of Covid trauma which the MSM drilled into the sheeple for 3 years straight--and it's still on the back burner with their Bird Flu hoax. Masks symbolize the scamdemic. They wear it partly out of a virtue signalling habit and part out of conditioned fear reflex.
