Typical snacks of Aceh

Aceh is not only famous for Gayo coffee which is one of the best coffee in Indonesia worldwide. Aceh also has a variety of typical Acehnese snacks that you must taste when visiting Aceh including:

  1. Keukarah.

Keukarah or Karah Cake is a popular snack among the people of Aceh. This cake is made from rice flour and is shaped to resemble chunks of dried vermicelli. This snack is also often said to be like a bird's nest. This sweet and crunchy snack originally developed in the west coast of Aceh. Keukarah is often served at traditional and traditional events, especially in West Aceh.

  1. Kembang Loyang.

This Loyang Flower is a typical Aceh snack that looks like a flower or flower. This cake is made from rice flour mixed with sesame seeds. The flower shape is obtained from the use of a cookie cutter during the frying process. It tastes sweet and savory and is usually served during the Eid al-Fitr celebration in Aceh.

  1. Lepat.

Apart from Timphan, there are also other Acehnese snacks wrapped in banana leaves, namely Lepat. Lepat is made from glutinous rice flour with brown sugar filling sprinkled with grated stir-fried coconut in the middle. These snacks are usually found during Gayo community celebrations.
