I have a new mug!|| ¡Tengo taza nueva!

We know that part of the experience of drinking coffee at home is having a mug that we like, and that we can use freely, even take it to different places in the house. Many have a history, and I have no problem with that. Weeks ago I posted that mine broke by accident. I have since embarked on a quest that has recently ended. Please allow me to tell you how I came to have a new mug.

Where I live there is not so much variety of mugs to buy. Still, I go through those aisles browsing through those that have a limited supply. Nothing captivating or outstanding. So I decided to wait until we visited a city. On that trip we took the opportunity to see several shops with a great variety. There were one-coloured ones, with a great variety of colours. There were also different sizes, including those exaggeratedly large ones, which almost looked like they were made to drink soup, not coffee. It is always commendable to see the creativity of those who put messages on them. I think that in order for me to buy one I have to really like the writing on it and it has to be applicable to every day of life. Yes, I seem to be picky about that. So the day ended and I couldn't buy one that captivated me. We went back home.

Then, around that time a family told us to help them do without some things they had left before moving out of the country. We have been helping with that, but it takes some time. There are clothes, shoes, accessories, kitchen utensils, so many things you normally buy and use! Then a pair of huge white mugs came into my view. They winked at me and beckoned me with one finger saying: "Adopt us".

They are a pair of mugs that you can tell have had quite a bit of use. In fact, they have a few knocks that have removed some of their surface. But generally speaking, they are in good condition. But they are huge and heavy! I don't know how much they weigh, but they hold 500 ml of liquid, because I measured it. So I've been using them ever since, but I have to admit that lifting and holding them is... is... how can I put it? Well, they're heavy, really. But well, while I was trying to get us to become friends, another piece of news arrived.

After a few days my wife found four mugs that didn't quite match, but we were allowed to keep two of them. Let's see, let's see... Three of them looked very much alike, but one was wildly different. So I discarded it almost immediately. Then I started detailing the others. That included comparing colours, taking their weight, holding them in my hand, detailing their shape and condition. I think the first white ones had taught me something. After all that evaluation, I chose this one that I am showing you today.

MY SELECTION.

Well, this is where I must apologise to all the ladies reading this content, because here's another man trying to sound smart when asked about colour. I'm sorry, I really am. But in my mind I heard this voice: "I chose yellow". I confess. But I've stumbled over this colour thing so many times before that I didn't say it out loud. I looked at my wife and I said to myself: "Look at it again because maybe it's not yellow". So I detailed it a little bit more.

But my mind started wandering and imagining how pretty my coffee would look in there. In fact, I wondered what an espresso would look like in there, with those beautiful colours, including hazelnut and brown, as it would go so well with them. But there came a point where I went back to what I came for: the colour of the cup! My caveman verdict is: my mug is mustard - here's my chest to take the bullets!

It's a nice size. I measured its capacity and it is 250 ml exactly. It's porcelain and a nice decent weight. I can hold it with two fingers on the inside of the handle and it feels good. Also, it is not quite round, as you can see in the pictures. It has a design that aims to give it four subtle sides so that it is reminiscent of a square shape. So my mug is neither cylindrical nor square, it's somewhere in between. Am I making another mistake by describing it this way, as it turns out there is such a shape and I don't know it? Well, there's the comment box for the clever ones.

So I decided to take some pictures of this new mug that came into my life without looking for it. I used side light and no fear of shadows because I wanted you to be able to notice the difference in its sides. If I used frontal light the photo would be very flat and it would be very difficult for them to notice that peculiar surface. What liquid am I using? Coffee, obviously.

Writing this post I asked myself: will there be people who name their mug? I don't know. But I am happy about what has happened to me. No more improvising where to serve my coffee in the mornings, because I had to wash a container to serve it some mornings. It's all different now. My mug is my mug, we know what its use is and when it should be ready for public service. But I want to make one thing clear before I say goodbye: I still want my transparent mug, and I will not give up the search for it. In the meantime, I will be happy with this one. What do you think of my mug? Have you ever come across a mug with a similar shape? I'll read you in the comments. Thanks for making it this far, see you next time!

Volvimos a casa.

A ver, a ver...

Greetings friend, congratulations on that new cup that came into your hands and it shows that it was a great decision and being able to agree with your wife and carry it that way. If you doubt it, it is perfect and that color is unique, since most of the cups are always white, so on that part it is surprising. Good luck and may you enjoy many coffees.

Yes, I think that helps us to have some peace and quiet in the mornings. No decisions are made, the cup is already there and we know what to do. Thanks for stopping by. Regards @davidpena21

Y pues.... Con respecto al color, uuuu... Si puede ser mostaza o amarilla!! Jejej 😂🖐️👍🏼

Yes, I really like this mug. And at that price! Well, as for the colours, here we go, I don't know whether to tell you that you got it right or not... Hahahaha... We'll keep you posted. Regards @castm2

My caveman verdict is: my mug is mustard - here's my chest to take the bullets!

Ahahahah!! I'm giving you a pass on that for sure! It is more descriptive than "yellow" so at least for this woman, it is a good description. I myself would pick dandelion, and I'm sure every other woman would have her own take...

As for the shape, it is truly unique. It looks like a perfect mug for holding with both hands during a heavy rain! 😄

I'm glad you found this gem, even if your search for a clear mug endures. ☕️ Cheers!

I soared to the sky when you approved my version of what colour it was, but plummeted back to the ground when you told me your opinion. I didn't know that even dandelions have their own colour 😅. Well, I still have a lot to learn. Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing my joy. Regards @grindan

Hey! What a beautiful mug. I love that it has a character that is quite different from the usual - the color, erhhmm, mustard, I may describe as "egg yellow" lol. The shape is also unique. It is indeed a great find, in my opinion. The photos look great too!

Boy, I knew I was getting into deep water with the colour thing. Thanks for sharing my joy of this new acquisition. I really enjoyed preparing this post for you. Thanks for your feedback on the photos. Regards @arrliinn
