Knot Pretzels - Artisan coffee at Victoria Station

ARTISAN COFFEE AT VICTORIA STATION

Hivepost (1).png

Victoria station was one of my main stops (or starts, depending) when travelling to my Uni back in the day. It was also where I caught the train for the airport because you could check in your luggage in Victoria Station and save a lot of time at the airport. I'm not sure if that service is still available today - it was quite a while ago. The station itself has undergone major changes since that era.

One of the changes that happened over time was the moving of all the restaurants and bars to the same part of the station, to make the whole thing more coherent. However, in time, more restaurants/bars/cafes were opened on the ground floor bit again, kind of defeating the purpose of the chill out area on the higher level.

When I was there last week, I noticed some new kiosk style cafes including Knot Pretzels specialising in "artisan coffee" and, well, pretzels.

We had 50 minutes before our connecting train to the event we were going to. My friend from the cryptoverse is vegan, so she had a vegan pretzel, which she said was disappointing, and a black americano like me. We both approved of the coffee even though they had run out of covers for their takeaway cups. Luckily I had held on to the cup, and its cover, from an earlier drink. As it happens, these cups are mass produced in the same place, so the dimensions are often the same. I used the cover from the previous cup on my new coverless cup, and it fit perfectly.

Yes, the coffee was good, but I wouldn't call it "artisan" as claimed by Knot. Perhaps I have to order something else from the menu and not just a black americano, who knows. Being a kiosk in a train station, they had no dedicated sitting area, but we did find a nice spot with an inbuilt coffee table. It very thoughtfully had a device charger included. Alas!, we couldn't use it since it was a wireless charging interface. Neither of our phones have that facility.

Coffee, comfortable sitting and conversation meant the hour flew by so quickly that we almost missed our connecting train to the event. A quick glance at my phone clock sounded the alarm. We raced across the station and had managed to board with only 30 seconds to spare. Phew!

As mentioned earlier, the coffee at Knot is good, but I wouldn't class it as "artisan" per se. It is better than the chain stuff though, so I'd pick this over Costa or Starbucks. So, if you're at Victoria Station, London, this may be a good choice for you to grab a quick cup to take unto the train. There's no dedicated sitting area, but there are plenty of general sitting spots dotted around the station, so you can find one near your platform if you have some minutes to spare. ☕️

Peace & Love,

Adé

Lucky that you didn’t miss your connection train! Coffee looks good and although there is no sitting place, the surrounding area seems to have some very nice looking places to hang around.

Yeah, we would have had to wait an hour. 😅

Hey Adé!
I haven't traveled through that station in ages. It would be nice if they still have that bag check-in service, but I doubt it.
I hate when coffee outlets use the term artisan lightly, as they really set you for disappointment when it is nothing special.
You both seem happy enough regardless:)

Exactly! The coffee was excellent for a normal place, but the "artisan" claim is what let them down lol.

I don't go to Victoria too often, but it's useful to know where the good coffee is. I used to have those big pretzels when I was in Germany.

Is that a friend from another blockchain? I know some from the 'other side' have a thing against Hive as some had a bad experience. They make out that it's so terrible here. I hope they find happiness in whatever they do.

Haha. You recognised her. 😂

She looked familiar. I know you have been bridging the 'divide' and that's fine. I'm not into falling out with people over things that don't really matter.

To be honest, I didn't even realise there was a gap until after seeing some posts. It's all gone to shit on there now anyway. There's apparently been a massive clash of egos, so it's not really fun for anyone anymore. The token price is also in free fall.

I see a lot of bitterness from certain people over there, whilst most on Hive are oblivious to Blurt. I would welcome people to come over, but some burned their bridges when they left and some Hivers will not easily forgive them.

Left that life about 20 years ago and miss it one little bit. I still love coffee though.

:)
The rat race is real.

Coffe always supply this type of best feeling

It really does.
