There is a need to keep the body in a state of shock forcing it to go into overdrive at protecting itself. A controlled shock is something I have been doing in the last five years now after incorporating no meat day Friday from my mums Catholic meat free Fridays, seeing the health benefits in having a dedicated day once a week to have no meat was something I had not thought of in a religious frame of mind. Of course it plays into the whole ritual of sacrificing something some people gladly forego as a symbol or as their way of life, Hindus and who ever.
But the fasting mindset did not stick to me straight off the bat and I am still a very beginner when it comes to it, having just started it some five years ago, first a once a week practice to coincide with my no meat Fridays diet. It seemed natural and in line with the whole regime. Once a week is not bad as a start I always say. Well to compensate my body with something other than water since it has no flavor, of course some would argue water does have a flavor but that is something I am not inclined to cover here.
I digress.
Well, yesterday I fasted as long as I could, I am finding being here in the Philippines I am struggling with getting to the magic hour of eighteen hours no food to trigger Autophagy, it has bene a struggle and yesterday was no exception. My sister came over for breakfast and brought champagne breakfast to eat with my mum and uncle, I was included but of course I am fasting so I sat there just smelling the food and drink as they ate. So I decided to leave them part way through the meal and headed to Kaps Kape, a local café in Toledo city, Cebu. At the side of the Barba Sports Complex it is one of the only closest true café found in Toledo proper.
From the inside I took this picture because I like the feel of the sign on the cafe window, but noticed the ambulance in the background the spelling if the right way, now mind you I had to reverse the picture because the signage was not in the right way, wonder who painted the vehicle and why was it done that way? Is it for selfies?
Two things stick out for me on this picture. First my eyelids, they are very different in stature and appearance, like my eyes are not sure if I am Filipino or if I am some other kind of peoples. Second the writing on the picture is wrong in that that I is not a capital letter LOL.... OCD I know. But I took this with the wall in equal parts to me because I really like how the owners of the café has added all these little eye catchers on their walls without having the need for an over the top decor.
That painting sure is alluring to look at, right at the side of the cashier. It brings a certain class into the place I think from the sheer size and the fact the boys face is covered without being fully covered. It reminds me that conversations do not need to be yelled to your companions while drinking coffee, this is not a beer garden, it is a place where silence and subtle music reign supreme so your brain has time to wake up, think of ideas and no get drowned out by seize less noise.
The place I said is located in the heart of Toledo. The city proper, of course some "genius" decided to move the government hall away from the center and out it smack bang in the middle of the bush away from the historic heart of Toledo, I heard from someone it is well away from the people and hard to get to so the people cannot freely go and complain to the city officials. I am just repeating what I heard and that piece of information is Marites, take with a grain of salt.
Drop in say hello.
