Today, I woke up late, a consequence of staying up too late last night. I didn’t realize how late it had gotten until I glanced at the clock and saw it was already 2 a.m. As a newcomer to the Hive community, I’ve been so engrossed in exploring and connecting with new people that time flew by without me even noticing. I’ve been busy checking out people’s profiles and reading their posts, hoping to learn more about the vibrant community here.
Meanwhile, my husband, who knows me well, was already up and preparing for the day. He told our daughter to go downstairs to our burger stall if she wanted some coffee. We opened the stall just below our condo, right in the heart of the local food court. It’s an ideal location since the condo is situated opposite a university, high school, and elementary school. The area is always filled with students, making it a bustling and energetic spot. That’s why we decided to open a pork burger stall there, hoping to cater to the busy crowd.
I finally woke up around 11 a.m., feeling a bit groggy from sleeping in, but my husband knew exactly what I needed. Despite my late start, he made sure to remind our daughter to tell me that he was at the shop. He was busy training a new worker for our other shop, but he still found time to ensure I got my morning coffee.
I went downstairs to our stall and settled at a small table right in front of the counter. The view was great, with the food court buzzing with students and locals. I ordered an Indonesian brew coffee from the waiter at the food court, savoring the rich aroma as it arrived. There’s something comforting about enjoying a warm cup of coffee in the midst of the hustle and bustle. The simple act of sitting at the stall, watching life unfold around me, was calming.
It’s moments like this, where the combination of coffee, community, and the early hours of the day blends together, that remind me how important it is to cherish these small but meaningful rituals. Despite waking up late, I felt grounded and grateful for my family, our business, and the new connections I’m making here in the Hive.
