Hello, good morning to all coffee lovers. We are almost at the end of this year, and also of our Christmas season. I have managed to build a few days full of peace and harmony by rescuing daily my Christmas traditions, those that were passed down to me by the old generations in my home, and that although they are no longer physically present, they are kept alive in my memories and in my heart.
I remember how every morning, after Christmas, the most normal meals in my house were the reheated ones; those leftovers from Christmas Eve dinner, and of course, a hallaca at every meal from the moment they were made. Once in a while, someone in the house would deign to prepare a non-Christmas breakfast, sometimes simple, sometimes more elaborate, but after that breakfast, we were still in the reheated and the hallaca.
What I can assure you that has not been missing in every breakfast, snack, afternoon chat, rainy days, hours of writing, and moments of relaxation, is a great cup of aromatic coffee, super hot, and with the best flavor to awaken our senses.
It could be said that this month, the menu coffee with hallaca, or hallaca with coffee, as it sounds better. All my hallacas of the day, except the one for Christmas dinner, were accompanied by a delicious cup of coffee, taking advantage of the fact that I was having a new Christmas cup.
After a good lunch, and in the middle of the afternoon, the family Christmas get-togethers could not have a better companion. The occasional cookie was part of the evening, but most of the time, it was just the two of us. They are never mentioned in Christmas traditions, but tell me what Christmas does not have the presence of coffee every day.
Even after Christmas Eve dinner, while we waited for Christmas, my aunt and uncle and my parents would sit in the living room talking, enjoying a coffee and some dessert. My aunt, very meticulous in this art, would place the tray in the center of the table with a porcelain teapot full of hot coffee, the small cups with their saucers, napkins, spoons, and the sugar bowl... all matching pieces.
So, I am convinced that coffee should be made official as part of Christmas traditions all over the world, don't you think?
