A coffee for me means more than a drink... for me sitting down to drink a coffee, feeling the hot cup and perceiving its exquisite aroma represents an evocation to the past to the pleasant memory of my childhood when I drank the coffee with milk that my grandmother gave me every morning, of the peace and serenity that I felt at home every time my mom brewed the coffee early in the morning before going to school.
Hello and greetings to this wonderful community of coffe and cup, this is my first time here and I am very excited to write and share in this space about coffee, due to the emotional charge that it represents for me.
Each cup of coffee feels like a ritual of relaxation, of forgetting everything and simply feeling good. Coffee is definitely an invitation to tranquility.
I continue to treasure these moments associated with pleasure, this time I have had the opportunity to go out a few times with my eldest daughter Sofia.
It is worth mentioning that she is working on weekends and holidays and she already has some money, we have been running errands to change her to a bilingual high school and when I left early from an interview with the director of the high school she invited me to have a coffee before going home.
My daughter Sofia is very exquisite haha and she told me to go to a coffee shop and order something delicious. She loves nice and cozy places and that morning we went to a coffee shop called Tostado Café Club.
It was in a kind of fair located near the medical school of the University of Buenos Aires. A very charming and pleasant place for a change.
The first thing we did was to sit down in a place with a good view and comfortable seats, we ordered the menu and I was very happy to order my coffee in her company, besides she was inviting me and I thought it was so nice of her.
Sofi is not so easy and these moments where we can be together in peace are priceless. And I want the coffee to mean for her also peace, tranquility and serenity and that these moments also treasure them and be part of her positive experiences of course together with me.
It was nice to see her looking for the menu, asking the employees and practically serving me. She was in charge. In her life there is a little twist, she prefers tea to coffee, but the complement of both is building important emotional walls that she will have for a lifetime.
In Venezuela we have some particular ways of ordering coffee: coffee with milk which is like 50% coffee and 50% milk, light brown which is something like 60% coffee and 40% milk and dark brown which is something like 70% coffee and 30% milk.
But here they don't understand that, the Argentines have a café cortado which is black coffee with a few drops of milk, they have lágrima which is like 70% milk and 30% coffee and café con leche which is half and half.
I love a light brown but there is no way that here they can understand me and give it to me, so I always go for the coffee with milk which is the one that is closest to my taste.
One particularity that I am practicing is to drink coffee without sugar. At home we do not buy sugar, this was initiated by my brother and we have followed him in trying to lower the consumption of sugar a little.
I must admit that I am very addicted to sugar, but we have also made progress by not having sugar at home, in the street we still succumb to the temptation but more and more often we opt for other foods.
When I buy my coffee with milk when I buy it outside, I drink it without sugar and I have noticed that this brings out the flavor of the coffee.
Sofia told me not only to order a coffee, she told me that she was also buying me breakfast and that please do not order a half moon, she knows that I always go for the cheapest, she told me that you can order up to 1,000 pesos.
So I ordered scrambled eggs with ham, cheese and a touch of chives, this dish was accompanied by a slice of toasted artisan bread as well as the name of the place "Tostado".
At the back before reaching the tables there was a space where you could find different dressings to season your dish, my choice was olive oil, a little spicy, salt and pepper.
Sofia ordered the same dish but instead of coffee she ordered a green fruit juice, the truth everything was very delicious and the weather together is the best, the view while we had breakfast was beautiful, the weather with 12°C living a quite cold spring, made the morning much more cozy.
The view at the exit is also very beautiful, there is a very old building that gives that European touch to the city. That morning a coffee ... a moment to be together ....
