Is there a better first date than going out for a coffee?
Let me remind you that's a rhetorical question.
I also know there are people who do not like coffee, but that's on them. What are they doing with their lives? Last Sunday, I did something that's not really common for me. Those days are usually when I disconnect from reality to give my brain some much needed rest from the whole deal of stuff I gotta deal with during the week. However, I had better plans. Instead of disconnecting from everything, there was the prospect of connecting more with someone I had been spending some more time during the whole week.
Remember I told you about the conspiracy to bake cakes? It so turns out that we had such a good time doing that and during the party that we spent the whole week doing things and talking. I had forgotten the last time there was so much to do during 7 days that by the end of Sunday, I didn't believe I had baked 3 cakes, gone to the beach and had a work-related meeting. All this happened to be with the same amazing girl.
So after all that, there was no other course of action than asking her out of a real date. I mean I'm nothing but a gentleman. We made plans to go for coffee at the same bakery I usually go to for getting my caffeinated goods. To start the date we spend some time going around the shopping mall and checking some things from clothing items to mugs and houseware. Then, we checked books at the bookstore and some other things all around the place.
While we were at it, we had been tell each other stories from our lives and families and whole other deal of stuff. Fluid conversation, then came the coffee time. We both ordered Mochaccinos. And spend some time having sips of coffee and talking a bit more. This time about things we do. You might know a bit about her if you take a look at her Hive profile, @octocel. She isn't active around here anymore, but you can look at her amazing illustrations.
And we did spend some time talking about that. As you know, I'm a sucker for girls who can paint, draw and everything related to that visual arts. And it so turns out she is amazing at it. Not only by virtue of her drawing skills, but at telling you stories about her works and topics related to art. And that makes her even more amazing to my eyes.
The best part? Well, it seems we are in a sort of admiration loop. Because she told me she had nothing but praise for my organizational skills and the load of things I've been doing since we know about each other's existence and how things keep progressing. So, I'm not walking lately. It feels more like floating.
There will be more coffee dates in the future. For the time being, I had an amazing time getting to know her better and also making myself known. I don't think I have ever had a date that was so interesting. Conversation going back and forth, some really nice staring, and coffee to top it off.
Seems like I found a muse during my coffee musings.
