Today's journey has brought me to the new coffee shop/roaster in town called KUP Coffee Roasters, This place opened up a month back and has been on my list since then and then this Monday I finally had a chance to drop by.
What I love most about this place is that they are Chennai's first Single Origin Artisanal Coffee Bar and they source coffee from 25 different Farms from across the globe and not just India.
"Single Origin" is often used to describe coffee that has a unique and distinctive flavour characteristics that are specific to the region where it was grown. This mainly is because the climate, soil, altitude, and other environmental factors of a particular region can affect the way a coffee bean develops which in turn leads to unique flavours and aromas and flavour profiles.
However, not all coffee shops are created in equal. Some stand out due to their unique offerings, and this new coffee shop in town has definitely done just that. This coffee shop not only serves speciality coffee, but it also roasts its own beans and is pet friendly, making it a must visit spot for coffee enthusiasts and animal lovers alike.
I was really excited to try out the coffee and I took a whiff of all off them and they smelled incredible.
They have a lovely La Marzocco Linea PB Espresso Machine which caught my eye as I walked into to store apart from all the coffees that they have on shelf.
The food menu is limited as it should be for a coffee shop, Indian's for some reason don't seem to understand this and always suggest the to the people behind the counter that they need to add more food on the menu. Even today this lady straight up walks to the owner and tells him to add more food as she wasn't impressed and his response was and i quote ”Sorry, but we are not a Restaurant/Cafe this is a Coffee Shop, if you'd like to have a proper meal then please don't visit a coffee shop" 😂
Here's What I Ordered:
La Pastora - Costa Rica (Hot Pourover) Rs 400 (4.86 $)
Barbara Estate - Chikmagalur (Hot Pourover) Rs 270 (3.28 $)
Barbara Estate - Chikmagalur (Hot Pourover) Rs 270 (3.28 $)
I saw my coffee get brewed in front of me and boy was I super disappointed. They Baristas weren't well trained, they had no idea what they were doing, they just managed to use really expensive equipment to make subpar coffee, Both my Pourovers were under-extracted SIGH
For a coffee shop that has really good beans it's disappointing that they haven’t yet trained the staff really well.
Guava & Chilli Nitro - Rs 370 (4.50 $)
Strawberries & Dehyderated Hibiscus which has been Nitro Brewed, I've always ben a fan of Nitro based coffee and fro those of you who don’t know what Nitro Coffee is well as the name might suggest, It involves Nitrogen Gas.
First you prepare a Cold Brew by brewing coffee using cold water and steeping it for an extended period of time, which is usually between 12 to 24 hours (My Personal Preference Is A 12 hr Steeped Cold Brew). Once the coffee is brewed, it is then infused with nitrogen gas, which creates tiny bubbles and gives the coffee its signature foamy, creamy texture and velvety flavour.
This Nitro Brew tasted quite well actually, I enjoyed this one but what I did not like was the aroma it had, Damn now that was terrible 😂
Croissant - Rs 150 (1.82 $)
Not the best one I've had so far in the city, but it was nonetheless enjoyable and went really will with my terrible coffee 😂
Chocolate Chip Cookie - Rs 200 (2.43 $)
Chocolate Chip Cookie - Rs 200 (2.43 $)
Ahh now this is what you call a cookie, the center as you break open the cookie oozes out with chocolate and that sight was a delight.
Croque Monsieur - Rs 450 (5.47 $)
Croque Monsieur - Rs 450 (5.47 $)
Now this one here is a classic French sandwich but when compared to the original one, this seemed a bit small but tasted phenomenal, The chicken ham was a stunner and oh the fried they definitely weren’t store bought.
Arancini - Rs 450 (5.47 $)
Ah the quattro formaggi risotto croquettes on a bed of arrabiata sauce, The cheese they’ve used was Mozzarella, Parmesan, Pecorino & Cheddar
Here's a small video I made of the food and coffee from this place. This was supposed to be my submission for the coffee prompt 4, but I fell asleep last night while compiling this one 😂 Uggh I could never even submit assignments on time in college.

Catchy name and it's amazing the range of coffee offered.
Yes, indeed! Some coffee shops just have that little extra something.
I agree that food selection should be minimal in a coffee shop. A selection of pastries and a few sandwiches are ok. The owner was right, if they want a full meal, then they go to a restaurant.
I'm glad that the croissant balanced your less-than-stellar coffee.
It's A Lovely Place, Hopefully They Improve On Their Brewing.
How much coffee do you consume!! This scares me 😂
A Little Too Much Since The Year Started 😂
