Greenr Café finds its home in a charming neighborhood adorned with Portuguese-style houses. Tucked amidst the cobbled streets stands the elegantly restored, century old Gonsalves House - a true blend of heritage and modernity.
The moment I saw the entrance, illuminated by enchanting hanging lights, I knew this place would look magical at night. Navigating the tricky parking took some time, but finding our way to this lane made it all worthwhile.
P.s. Our Coffee Slaps, is what the entree board says and I had to check it. 😛
A couple of months ago, at an event I attended, my Gen Z cousins confidently told me that my outfit “slaps.” Now, as someone not entirely fluent in the ever evolving language of Gen Z, you can imagine my reaction. I had a completely baffled look, paired with an awkward smile as I tried to decode whether it was a compliment or an insult. For a split second, I even wondered if they were just pulling my leg! It wasn’t until they burst out laughing and reassured me it was a compliment.
I stepped into the café at 11:00 AM, greeted by an array of inviting seating options. Just as I was about to pick a spot, my eyes caught a glimpse of a cupboard brimming with products from Cosmix to Gunam and more. Among them, a small note stood out: “Write a Blessing for Greenr.” It instantly brought a smile to my face, inspiring me to pause and think of a blessing to leave behind.
There was a cheeky waitress at the corner who came and smilingly gave me the menu. as I took a good glace at it, I was drawn towards the caffeinated options.
- Iced Latte
- House Cold Coffee
- Iced Mocha
- Greenr Frappe
- Saffron Kahwa
- Moroccan Mint
- Matcha Vanilla Latte
I ordered a Greenr Frappe, it had been ages since I’d indulged in a milk-based coffee. As I “patiently” waited for my cup to arrive, who was I kidding? I couldn’t possibly stay that calm while craving caffeine. Restless, I took a stroll around the café, soaking in the ambiance and admiring the surroundings.
Before I knew it, I was greeted by a wall adorned with art and playful crayon scribbles. Its charm was irresistible, and I couldn’t help but capture a photograph with it. Soon, my curiosity led me up the ladder, where I discovered spacious tables perfect for groups engrossed in work, their laptops open and charging ports within easy reach - a thoughtful touch for the modern café-goer.
Exactly! I had already spotted a customer immersed in her laptop, surrounded by a stack of books — undoubtedly a student deep in her work. As I turned, the view of the entire café seating below unfolded before me. And there it was the quaint dead-end window, adding a touch of quiet charm to the space. Can you see the said window?
That's where we had grabbed a seat.
That’s where my cousin and I grabbed a cozy spot by the dead-end window. Through it, we watched the bustling street outside, with cars pulling in and out every 10 minutes. Being a one-way road, there was traffic piling up, and every now and then, we’d spot a confused tourist accidentally taking the wrong turn — it was quite the scene!
Guess what finally arrive!
... My Greenr Frappe
Just look at it — so frothy and creamy! There’s no way I could drink this without capturing some aesthetic shots first. Of course, not just me, but my cousin too had to join in on the photography session. 😂
Just two sips in, I noticed their coasters looked charmingly rustic, with the café’s name elegantly embossed. Take a closer look at the shots below to appreciate the details.
Sipping the fun frappee ...
Sipping on the cold drink felt like the perfect way to kick off my Goan adventure, a journey I hadn’t embarked on in 19 long years. The refreshing blend of flavors seemed to mirror the excitement and nostalgia bubbling within me as I revisited this beautiful place after such a long time. It was more than just a drink — it was the first taste of a trip I had eagerly awaited for nearly two decades.
From where I sat, this was a stunning century-old Portuguese house that still retained its timeless charm. Its weathered elegance added a unique character to the scene, making the moment even more memorable. As for the frappe, it was indulgent and worth savoring, priced at INR 345, with an additional 5% tax. A small price to pay for the serene ambiance and a refreshing treat.
What a beautiful place, you can breathe the old and it combines perfectly with the modern of the cafeteria. Very nice photos that you share with us and it is clear that you enjoyed the experience in the place.
