Hello hivers of Cinnamon Cup Coffee! I've been following the posts of this wonderful community with interest for some time now, but I hadn't dared to publish anything myself. That changed with week 108 of The Coffee Shop Prompt, the perfect opportunity to tell you about the Luis Gómez Coffee Shop, the only one in my town.
This is the main entrance.
Cumanayagua is a small town of about twenty-two thousand inhabitants. There are several places where you can buy coffee, but none of them is actually a coffee shop. That void was more than filled by Luis Gómez, an establishment that opened its doors to the public a little over two years ago.
In The Coffee Conversation #99, I shared a picture of my coworkers (from my second job) and me after a stressful meeting. In a way, it has become some kind of reflex to come here to recharge our energy whenever we have the chance.
The bar only provides services during the early morning.
When you pass through the door seen in the first image, you can see this bar, where coffee is sold during the early morning. At that time, which is the busiest, few have the time to go into the main room and prefer to have their morning coffee on the go.
Since we usually come around noon, the place is generally not crowded at all, and we can take one of the four tables in the room that you access through another door from the bar.
Not everyone came to the coffee shop today.
The place is beautiful, bright, and welcoming. The service is fast and efficient, and the coffee is excellent. As a fun fact, the coffee shop is owned by a company primarily dedicated to the agricultural side of coffee production, so the small establishment is a smart way to venture into the other end of the business: coffee consumption.
My only complaint is the lack of variety, besides espresso and some varieties of coffee with chocolate or honey, there are few novelties. Coffee with cinnamon, anise, nutmeg, or rum would be very welcome, especially by the younger crowd always on the lookout for something new.
Only two tables occupied at noon.
In this photo, everyone is on their phones, which unfortunately are an essential part of our work in Local Development Management. By pure coincidence, at the other occupied table in the picture, you can see the director and the head of publicity from my main job at the local radio station... it's a small town and a very good coffee shop!
The outdoor area.
Right next to the coffee shop, there is an outdoor area under the shade of two large ocuje trees, with four additional tables. These tables are smaller, so we usually stay inside the main room.
In front of this outdoor area, you can see the space where every weekend takes place a folk music event, home to popular sung poetry. This brings us back to the name of the coffee shop, "Luis Gómez," in honor of an important popular poet and "decimista" born in this land.
The area of the folk music events
Honoring its name, the establishment maintains a close relationship with the cultural events of the town, especially those related to poetry. As an aspiring poet who occasionally writes "décimas," the preferred stanza of Luis Gómez, this connection between the coffee shop and poetry is something I greatly appreciate.
