Ivan the Dog waiting for his chance at some Latte foam
I miss the UK in general, usually going every other year for a few months at a time. One would think of tea when thinking of England, but over the past decade or so, I felt that Ole' Blighty was beginning to feel like the USA in the 1990's. That is to say when so many wonderful trendy or quaint coffee shops were popping up
The Last time I was there, I was with friends who were moving back from American to England and they finally were able to bring their darling dog Ivan. He is/was my chum.
We'd take rambles everyday stopping at the local tea room or coffee shop. When it was the latter, he loved a chance at my latte' foam.
Being an artist one sketches on napkins and backs of envelopes or on pages of carried about journals
This day I was scribbling on my new digital tablet and was happy with the 'paper in your pocket and old pencil' feeling.
When I returned home to our darling rented house in a small village outside Canterbury, I began adding color.
Just dibs and daubs of digital watercolor on rough paper. I intentionally left my human friends face vague for it was the look of Ivan I wanted to capture and the Object of his gaze the delicious coffee.
My human friend who often accompanied me always got a double shot of deep black espresso with a lemon peel, Ivan was not impressed. He rather liked my garish American need for frothy milk and elaborate designs in my beverage.
Delicious edible art in the Winter grey day's of Ole' Blighty; Coffee with the accompaniment of the squelch of a muddy wellie
Good ole' Ivan knew the score that where I lead, lovely frothy foam with touches of cinnamon were soon to follow.
I'm not sure when I'll return to England now, the world being what it is
But, anytime I get a coffee now I think of Jolly old England...And Ivan of course.
I also so wish that we Americans would take up the custom of coffee and tea at our Garden centers and IN our parks, but alas I fear for us it's all the 'license' and 'permits' required to do this or that. I always laugh when I hear the 'freedom of America' rant when I know full well one can't move for the red tape or make an attempt at anything without Bumping into bureaucracy.
I know find I think more of Tea, here at home in New England where I drink it mainly, and Good coffee with my English days, odd that.
We do have a lovely new 'hip' coffee house in our small village and I Love that they roast their own coffee and gosh it really is good...but I miss sharing it with a funny little dog who liked English rambles and latte foam, not necessarily in that order.
I hope you enjoyed my bit of 'coffee art' and my odd memory of UK coffee days. And I also hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your passion, especially if that passion involves coffee or dogs or, lucky you, both.
Hello @donnadavisart,
It's funny the things we crave sometimes, the connections we have with coffee and tea, and the places we have visited and lived.
Nice artwork!
The coffee with the heart design reminds me of this cappuccino I made without a milk frother (just a handshake of milk in a jar).
Wishing you a nice day:)
I like your sketch! 😍
Thank you so much @jeennicious

Yes think of me with that wonderful garden centre brew :) Hopefully when 'things' settle down in the world, I'm worried that might be awhile tho. Glad to see you , I always seem to loose track of people on here @beautifulbullies
