Well, it would have been impolite of me if I turned down an invite to go for yet another coffee, wouldn't it?! Unfortunately, the cafe we had chosen was closed for the day as there was a family wedding. I know which I'd rather do .... and it's not attending a wedding. Anyway, this is how we found ourselves at the Bon Appétit Cafe about 10 minutes up the road from us. Our first thought was, who had done the sign writing at the front? Was it supposed to be wonky, or had we already been drinking something a little stronger?
Once inside, the decor hit me, slap bang between the eyes! Brick wallpaper?? Who would have something like that up? Then I remembered I had something similar in my bathroom. Anyway, moving on, I think I'd call the cafe a 'greasy spoon' but a lot cleaner and the lady behind the counter was lovely.
We ordered a capaccino and a macchiato, which is an espresso coffee drink, topped with a bit of foamed or steamed milk.
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice they'd made it. My friend doesn't like biscuits, so it was a win, win situation for me all around.
We then ordered a couple of cheese toasties. When I've had toasties elsewhere, I'm used to them being accompanied by some nice fresh salad, but this time, we just got bog standard toasties. Nothing fancy. I could have done them at home, but as I'm allergic to doing any kind of cooking, even toasties, they were better than what I could ever do. Even though the food was quite basic, it was a nice homely cafe, and the bill was quite low, so I wasn't going to grumble .... much.
The brick wallpaper threw me off, then your words confirmed what I was seeing haha! The coffee looks yummy, and 2x the cookies is always awesome! 😁
