Coffee at the S42 Café

We called in at a local café that we had not tried before. The café was named the 'S42 Café' after its postcode, a clever way to bond with the locals. My first impression was that it looked really nice and cosy. The interior had warm rustic colours.

There was a blanket draped in the corner for customers to use on cold days like today!

Unfortunately, we arrived at the wrong time. In the past few years, many cafés have transformed into community hubs, offering various gatherings such as reading and writing groups or chatter groups. While this is great, if you happen to visit just after the groups have met up, you have a long wait to get served! They were very apologetic though, and we didn’t mind waiting.

I fancied something different to drink, so I opted for a strong espresso. The lady who served me was only standing in for her daughter and was unfamiliar with what an espresso was. She bought it to me cold. I've heard of iced espressos but not cold. She ended up putting some hot water in it for me. It really wasn’t the weather for cold coffee. The espresso ended up twice the size it should have been. Surprisingly, it still tasted good.

We also ordered a latte, a vegetarian fry up and scampi with chips and peas. It really was well worth the wait.

There was also a free chocolate when we went to pay at the till. It made paying so much more palatable.

After my regular café had closed down, I'd been looking for a substitute, and I think I've found it, as it was so friendly. Another advantage of this café was its dog-friendly policy. As a dog lover, I like to meet our furry friends .... even more than their owners. 😁 I will just visit when there are no group meet-ups so I can get served quickly!

Very nice cafe! The drinks and food look okay too. Glad you found a really nice one!

I hate cooking, so this is perfect. 😄

Lucky you. You’ve a place where you could have your meals whenever you’re too lazy to cook.
