Before I begin to tell my story, and show some of the results that I have had during this time, I want to make it clear that I am not an expert, I have had my experience preparing coffee, but I am not a barista or anything like that.
It all started in 2020, when I started working in the office of a company called Spanish Bakery, here I had to fulfill various roles, how to prepare sandwiches, slicing charcuterie, conducting inventories, among other things, but there was one of them that the truth was afraid, I literally panicked, and that was preparing coffee.
The truth is that it took me a long time to prepare a coffee, you won't believe me, but to be able to make a decent coffee it took me more than a year hahahaha, but it was because of pressure and fear that I felt, but not because of pressure from the supervisors, because the truth is that they are excellent people, I give them a 20 out of 20, the problem was myself that I let myself be dominated by my nerves.
This was my first coffee that came out with some cream, I will never forget it.
After that day I had a little more interest in the preparation of the coffees, and I started to investigate a little, I watched videos to improve a little more, and to my surprise, I applied what I saw on the internet and I did not get the expected result.
I got a little frustrated again, but I kept practicing, and I noticed that there was a lot of foam coming out when I was heating the milk, but with a special machine, I realized that the nozzle I was using to heat the milk was too far outside, and I placed it a little more inside and in the center, and I saw some difference.
I wanted to try to make a heart shape, and the result was not even close.
I kept watching videos and practicing constantly every day to make the heart I wanted so much, and what do you think happened?
I ended up getting my heart's desire.
I started to gain a little more confidence, and I was already preparing coffee for the public.
But the story does not end here, little by little I also realized that I was reheating the milk too much, and that is not good, because it prevents us from perceiving the flavors of our coffee, it does not leave a good texture and it can even hurt our stomach.
I kept trying to improve that part and there kept being changes for the better.
I wanted to make hearts with some variations, but these were not for the public but for my co-workers.
The letters were made with the same coffee stirrer, it was like grabbing a paintbrush, but the difference was that here it was with milk and coffee.
This was the one I liked the most of hearts.
After so much heart making I wanted to make other shapes, so I started experimenting.
The truth is that this one came out accidentally, I wanted to make a heart with another heart above it and in the end I ended up with a happy onion.
After that moment I started making faces at almost everything jajaja.
This one was made by a friend and I, we spent more or less time there, even the coffee got cold, but the shape was very nice.
Under my experience I could give some advice and conclusions for people who want to start preparing coffee:
- Do not be afraid to start, the truth is that at the beginning it can be hard like everything in life, but as you get interested and practice a lot, it will become easier.
- If you don't have someone to teach you, there is a lot of information on the internet that can help you.
- Prepare the coffee for yourself, and your trusted people, there you can test your results yourself, and ask for opinions.
- Try not to heat the milk too much.
- Not all of us prepare coffee in the same way, everyone has their own style.
- Don't be afraid to experiment.
