Happy New Year fellow hivers and members of @CinnamonCupCoffee.
How did you end last year and how did you start the new year?
What was your first drink or beverage for this year?
On New Year’s Eve, my family and two other families went to an amusement park. It took us about 1-hour to get to the location. We stayed there for about five hours. One of the rides the kids went on was “cup and saucer”. I never liked the ride as a kid as it made me feel nauseous. My kids on the other hand, loved it. For me, it was too much spinning. I’d rather stir and enjoy some tea from an actual cup. I could do with or without the saucer.
While at the park we saw some coffee signs. We realized there was a cafe but it seemed full and so we didn’t get the chance to go in. We left the park and then had dinner at a restaurant. It was fun and felt like a full day. My intention was to stay up and watch a T.V. program leading to the countdown to the new year. I guess I was so tired, I fell asleep.

Cup and Saucer attraction. No coffee or tea in these cups but maybe several teaspoons of thrill.

Early in the new year, my family and I enjoyed some lovely cups of tea. One morning we had some royal milk tea and some lemongrass tea. My very first cup for the year however, was a warm cup of matcha latte served with toast, eggs and carrot.@bearmol woke up early, got busy in the kitchen and warmed our hearts and tummies with our first breakfast of 2023. Breakfast was so delicious and that cup of matcha 🍵 latte was just what I needed.
My first meal and beverage of 2023.
Matcha latte, toast, eggs and carrot slices.
The highlight of my first beverages of the year is one I had over lunch with a friend. It was a tea(non-alcoholic) cocktail. I can’t remember the exact name of it but it was similar to “Tea Cocktail Rouge”. It was a sweet tea with a slight tang. It came with a few blueberries, a cut of strawberry and a sprig of rosemary. “Just Good” describes it well.

Last but not least , is a drink I usually have around Christmas and New Year’s. It’s called sorrel and it pairs well with rich fruit cake. I have a few cups left and it all will be gone before the new year gets “old”.
Sorrel(a kind of hibiscus) drink and fruit cake.

A cup of coffee is tempting to me but that roller coaster ride, even if it is free I will not dare to ride it.😂
😂😂I see your stance. Though I prefer tea to coffee, I’d easily choose coffee over those rides. After deep contemplation, I rode two of the “easiest” roller coasters and almost peed my pants. When I saw the loops in the green one posted above, I knew there was nothing or no one that would get me on it. 😂🤣🤣
Thanks for stopping by. Have a thrilling week. 😃
😅😅😅 I was having fun reading your response. Honestly, I really hate rides. They drive me crazy. In my entire life, I never tried it. Good for you have ridden, at least you have experienced it.☺️
😂😂I did it for the kids. I overheard my sons saying, “I bet mommy won’t go on the roller coaster”.
I didn’t want to look like a chicken. I wanted to surprise them but I could hardly even keep my eyes open.
You know the strange thing is that with all the fright, you do get a slight feeling of wanting to try it again. This is from someone who can’t manage adventurous rides.
The good thing is that they’re usually some simple attractions that help to balance things out.
😂😂😂 It was such a funny experience. It is a fact that because of our child, we have to overcome even our greatest fear.
A roller coaster ride is fun to experience but maybe I'm not ready yet. Soon I wanna give it a try😆.
😂😆😅 All for the children.
I’m not really in a position to give advice but if you try, you could start with what you consider to be the simplest and be with someone who can manage the rides. 😃
It sounds like you got the new year off to a great start.
I particularly like the tea with the rosemary sprig 😋
Thank you. I hope your year is going great so far.
That red tea was really good. It was a lovely first experience. 😃Have a great day. 🎶
😃Thank you @appreciator.
Staying up, watching the countdown on TV used to be a tradition at my parents and at 00:00h. firing firecrackers and fireworks. As a kid I sometimes also went and slept a bit and my dad was the one to wake us up. After fireworks our first prayers as a family in the New Year.
Now that we live on our own, it changes because of new experiences, new places and faces. I think that when we've settled in it might change.
🥰Good memories. It’s interesting to see how the new year is celebrated in different countries or in different families. When I was much younger, my mom would wake us up so we could go to church at 10p.m. They would have a little service and then ring in the new year. When I became a teenager, the youth from church would have house parties. We’d play games and eat. We then all walked together to get to church at 10 p.m. It was usually 10-15 of us. Fun times. 🥰
This also sounds like fun.
Now they also have countdowns in Suriname in public events, but not hugely visited though. I think. Most go home to be with family. It's more for those who are tourists or don't have anything planned with family.
That’s interesting. So it’s really mostly time for families to get together (in Suriname).
It is and I think because it's not paired to a religion or cultural group, which Divali and Christmas are. So everyone parttakes.
I see. 😃
I see. I get that. 😃
