Coffee and ice cream in El Piave de Bernal, Argentina.

Last Sunday I traveled with my dad to the city of Bernal, Argentina to participate in the celebration of the International Day of Handmade Soap. Since it was our first trip by train, we left with plenty of time to spare and ended up arriving too early at the meeting point.

After walking around the station we decided to have a coffee while we waited and we saw a cozy place where "Just My Imagination" by The Cranberries was playing, I like that song a lot so I suggested to dad to have coffee there.

The place is called El Piave and it turned out to be an ice cream shop that specializes in Italian ice cream, but they also serve coffee. I was excited like a child when I saw the great variety of flavors and decided that I wanted ice cream instead of coffee.

Dad ordered a coffee, a cortado or a marron as they call it in some places, and I ordered a double ice cream: orange chocolate and white chocolate.

I wanted to order a cone, but I'm a disaster when I eat ice cream and I end up stained like a child, but we still had the artisan soap makers meeting ahead of us so I couldn't afford to stain my clothes.

Once I had my ice cream I was a little girl again and wow! What a delicious ice cream. The orange chocolate was creamy, sweet without being cloying and with a bitter taste of cocoa; it also had caramelized orange peel pieces. Delicious. The white chocolate had small pieces of chocolate and was also very creamy and delicate.

Dad said the coffee was good, it had a lot of aroma and was creamy, but it wasn't the best he's ever had. One negative point is that there were a lot of grounds in the cup, maybe the machine was failing and didn't filter it properly.

As for the service at the place, 10/10, they were very kind and attentive. Also, the place is very comfortable. The music selection was varied and at a volume that allowed us to talk, which I really liked.

Finally, before leaving we used the bathroom. They have only one bathroom, but it was very clean, and it is suitable for people with reduced mobility, which I thought was very thoughtful.

I thought it was a great place to share a dessert, ice cream, or coffee while chatting. They also have Wi-Fi so you could even bring your laptop and work from there. I would definitely come back to try other ice cream flavors and enjoy the nice atmosphere.

It's serm to be a nice place

I must say that the coffee, if it wasn't the best, had a plus, the hot cup kept it hot until the last sip. A lucky choice on a very special day.
I think you're hired to do the post for the artisan soap makers' meeting.

Bravo @isauris

How important music is in a coffee shop. If the music is pleasant, it is the first thing that attracts people to enter a place. It's a shame the coffee wasn't as good, but I imagine the ice cream made up for it.

Thanks for sharing your coffee experience with us.☕

It looks a very nice and nice place, I definitely love it. I hope I can visit it someday.

I'm glad you enjoyed a coffee and ice cream with your dad, before the handmade soaps event.

I love coffee and ice cream, and I also suck at eating ice cream cones, and thank goodness you asked for it, you could have risked getting stained before the event.
