Iced Coffee on a Rainy Day

Happy Sunday, everyone! Hope you’re all doing good. It’s cold and rainy here in Cebu today—one of those days when all you want to do is stay in bed, listen to the rain, and just chill. But since it’s Sunday, we went to church as usual. After the service, we headed to the market to pick up a few things, but right as we were about to start shopping, the sky turned dark, looks like it’s about to rain!

Instead of heading straight home, we decided to make a quick stop at Don Macchiato’s. A lot of filipino here on hive are familiar with this coffee shop since its quite popular in the Philippines, and they have branches all over the country. This coffee shop is known because of its affordable drinks, which cost 39PHP (sobrang pang-masa), which is why I like it. I guess our decision to have a stop-over was right because the moment we entered the coffee shop, heavy rain puored out.

My go-to order at Don Macchiato? Ofcourse, matcha with coffee. I so love the balance between the earthy matcha and the slight bitterness of the coffee. It’s such a unique combo, and honestly, I could drink it every day. But today, since they don’t serve hot drinks (which, by the way, is something I really wish they had, especially on rainy days), we all had to settle for iced coffee instead. I ordered my usual, and my friends went for iced matcha drinks too.

While we were chilling inside, I couldn’t help but wish they had hot beverages. Imagine sipping a nice, warm latte while listening to the rain outside it would’ve made the moment even cozier. Like, there’s really something so comforting about having a hot drink on a rainy day. But oh well, iced coffee it is HAHAH.

We ended up staying for about an hour, just talking about random stuff, like plans for the week, some nonsense funny stories, and even ranting about how stressful this semester is.

By the time the rain slowed down, we finished our drinks and decided to head out. The air outside felt fresh, the streets had that calm, post-rain feel, and everything just seemed extra peaceful. That simple, unplanned coffee stop turned out to be the perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday.
