I never actually drank coffee until 2019, at that time I was living with a friend while serving my country, and most days she had visitors so I would usually leave to give them privacy.
One certain day, I decided to take a stroll around the neighborhood and I discovered the tiniest coffee shop just hiding at one corner, I wasn’t a coffee drinker but the aroma drew me in and I became stuck.
I often went daily to this coffee shop and tried almost everything but after my service year ended I had to leave the state to go back home and that was the end of my favorite obsession.
Going back home meant one thing, there were no coffee shops and I had to drink only instant coffee and for me when you have tried so many flavors, it didn’t match up at all.
I have often dreamt of opening a coffee shop in my hometown but most people wouldn’t pay well to drink good coffee but if I did open one this would be my ideal coffee shop.
First, I will love it to be Nigerian-themed with calm Nigerian music playing in the background and the décor representing the essence of Nigeria.
I will want my coffee shop to be tiny, just like the one that made me fall in love with coffee, I will also want it painted with pastel colors because even though my favorite color is black, pastels always make me feel peaceful and I know that others might feel the same.
In my coffee shop, I will love to have lights dangling inside so it is very bright but a lot of blinds to keep people from peaking in and I know this might not be ideal for sales but I will like to give it a feeling of safety, you know when you enter somewhere and you are comfortable knowing that no one is watching you from the outside.
I will also love to sell different desserts and treats because I felt like that was what that coffee shop needed to make it perfect and who wouldn’t want dessert with their coffee.
Lastly, I will want a place for books because as someone who loves reading and usually would spend hours in a coffee shop, I feel like it will be a perfect combination.
Writing this made me smile because the thought of it makes me so happy but alas, it is just a dream that might never come true.
This is my entry to the spill the beans creative writing contest by the cinnamon cup coffee community and you can enter this contest here.
Also, I want to invite @deraaa and @iskafan to take part in this contest
I hope that this dream come true cos I would love to be in this particular coffee shop seeing that everything I love is in there; pastel colors, privacy, and finally books. 🥺🥰😍❤️🔥
Maybe I could open it in another state, I don't know but things don't sell in Bayelsa.
Why do you say so?
Well, most businesses die here because first it is a civil servant state, and the people barely patronize.
Like we don't even have a well-functioning cinema or a Mall 😆
Oh... Baby. It can. There would be a lot of hardwork and stuff but it can. I mean... I loooooovvvveeee cofffee
It wouldn't sell in Bayelsa though, probably in a big city.
True🤔
Yeah, and can't run a business just because.
This is an amazing idea, and I think what you're proposing is more than just a coffee shop. I think it can work (even in Bayelsa), never say never.
Love coffee a lot when growing up, especially d aroma and the taste is HEAVENLY. But I was told to not always take much coz of my body size. But I'm still tempted most times.
Businesses don't last in Bayelsa though if it isn't a necessity so I don't know.
Coffee doesn't make you add though.
Bayelsans are missing a lot then.
I know coffee don't make you add, buh person wey no too get body no dey drink coffee like water.
Buh I love coffee like madantin 😋
I will definitely become a number one customers !! I hope your coffee dreams come true !!!
I pray it does one day but it doesn't seem likely.
It definitely can. Just put in the effort and believe in yourself
Maybe if I move like I plan to, I can try to do it.
I believe you'll be able to do it
Thank you for believing in me.
Hello @khaleesii,
Nice entry!
Your idea sounds great especially with offering a selection of books too:)
Thanks for taking part in this initiative!
I am glad you think so, thank you for this beautiful initiative.
You're most welcome:)
Really nice! Funny how recently I myself was thinking about coffee shops & if having one in Nigeria will be sustainable, or perhaps a Tea shop as Nigerians aren't alot into coffee.
Well, if the dream does happen, I'll be looking forward to patronising 🤗
Or maybe we could start a business together; tea, coffee and everything else.
It's a dream very likely to come true. I noticed most of the cafés I've been to don't have books and is something that will set them apart from the rest.
But it wouldn't work in this state, maybe Abuja or Lagos.

I really wish your wish comes true. There is no impossible dream when you fight for it.
A virtual hug ♥
I will try to work on it but coffee isn't a thing in my state that people buy.
Thank you for your hug.
I'm happy you have a great idea in mind.
I hope you get to see it through even after this contest
I hope so too, maybe one day.
That is a really super cool post, I sort of wanted to have a small coffee shop as well, it would be sort of neat. And those are called (slang) "a little tiny hole in the wall." Do not ask me to explain hahahahaha!!!
I hope you get what you wish for someday, and that it is the perfect spot for you.
