Very informative and interesting. Some manufacturers use expiration dates not necessarily to tell when a product will spoil but to signify when they (the manufacturer) can no longer guarantee the quality of their product. I wonder if that is what is being conveyed here on the coffee packaging?

I think in the case of coffee packaging, the second most appropriate reason, as you stated, is very appropriate.
The expiration date is listed to indicate the quality of their product is no longer the same as when it was produced.
For coffee, the time period can be even longer.
But everyone will definitely look for the latest for what they will consume, right?
