Every coffee shop has its own atmosphere, but sometimes it’s not atmosphere what you’re looking for but a warm beverage during a cold, windy, and rainy day. Some small comfort before you continue your journey.
Think of Blenz Coffee as Starbucks’ little sister. Like Starbucks, they are ubiquitous throughout the city and sport a similar design and aesthetic. Instead of green, however, Blenz uses a light yellow and brown colour scheme. While the décor changes from shop to shop, it’s generally modern and not so ‘hipster-ish’ like other shops in town.
In Europe, after coffee was introduced by Middle East travelers, coffeehouses sprang up and became an important meeting place for intellectuals, artists, rebels, and politicians. Café culture has taken root in this city, and there is practically one in every corner. They are not, however, the meeting place of the cognoscenti, but social hangouts for urbanites, meeting places for downtown workers, and a coterie of hipsters, students, retirees, lost tourists, and that most noble of all creatures, the content creator.
I wasn’t particularly in the mood for coffee that day, but instead I felt like having the drink of the gods- cacao. Ah, what can we say about cacao that hasn’t been said before? The plant was domesticated by the mysterious Olmec in 1500 BCE. Its consumption was so important that the cacao was basically a currency among the tribes of that region. It is said that the chocolate drinks were reserved for the wealthy and religious practitioners, though I have a hard time believing that the regular Joe was not going to prepare himself a cup or two.
I was focused on the marketing graphic design and failed to take a picture of the chocolate, but it was brown, sweet, and delicious
Chocolate in its current form had to wait until the industrial revolution when people had the brilliant idea of adding milk and sugar to the chocolate. The original chocolate drinks of the indigenous tribes used to have a varieties of herbs and spices, including hallucinogenic plants, but sadly, we did not continue that far-out tradition. I don’t imagine coffee shops would be serene places today if the clientele was tripping balls.
There won’t likely be any revolutions coming out of this coffeeshop. No manifestos or pretentious artistic movements. No grand political plans will be hashed out in secret corners. No tragic Hemingways will escape the rain with notebook and pencil in hand. No Da Vincis will sit there and feverishly work on a masterpiece that will astound the world. In this coffeeshop, you will order. Pay for what you ordered. Receive your order. Enjoy your order. Then be on your way.
That’s the Blenz way.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know

Wow! That is a beautiful place! The lights and interior designs makes it look amazing and inviting. I am tears 😭. I didn't have anything for breakfast before going to work, I only had coffee. Those Rolls!!! They make me wish I had a magic wand so I can take it out of my phone 😂. They look so delicious. Amazing post!
I usually don't get any baked goods from this particular shop, but that was a warm and creamy treat. Delicious! Maybe someday we'll be able to replicate what we see online with the press of a button. 😀
Oh no! It's unfair to tease me with these sumptuous delights before I go to sleep. Still, I think I am bound to have sweet dreams, so I won't complain.
OK!!! I like that. I admire any place that has an identity.
I love the cup design, and the colour scheme works well.
Your post brightens up the community:)))
That cinnamon bun makes my heart race just looking at the picture. Sugary goodness. Sorry to tease you :) Blenz is a no-frills kind of place in general, but every shop is different depending on which side of town it's located. They're everywhere, so they must be doing something right.
Thank you for reading and commenting, @millycf1976!
