There’s nothing quite like going to Starbucks early in the morning and getting some drug into my system. I could have made it at home with all the tools I have but there’s just something beautiful and ritualistic about going outside, seeing people rushing, and breathing some fresh air. I am also not shy to say that I am an addict, starbucks at that too.
Call me a person without a refined taste, but I like the layout of Starbucks that is kept clean, exudes comfiness with its lighting and the color of their interior. I mean, what prevents cafes and coffee shops from actually neatly arranging their place like that? Isn't making customers spending more money good for business? That’s one thing I learned about it, a comfortable place can make people spend more too. It’s certainly not one of the ways but one among many ways to make customers buy something. Is overpriced coffee worth it? I’d say in this case, worth every penny.
I wonder what kind of genius that once thinks, “ how can I make basic “coffee” into something addictive that would generate billions of money?” I would say there’s just so many business lessons that you can learn from this coffee shop. From harnessing the power of basics, making basic things great, to squeezing out money from customer’s pockets.
When I see the ingredients they use, it’s really no secret ingredients. But we all can agree that the beans are the key factor that differentiates them with their competitors. The milk they use in Indonesia is basically a brand called Greenfield which is also available in every store. So, if you have purchased the beans, especially their dark roast, you might as well just make starbucks at home and it’ll taste exactly like that. When compared to their competitors like Exelso, their beans are certainly far superior. The thing is, I have yet to actually find a local great roaster that does Colombian coffee or south america that is just to my liking. So it doesn’t matter when people say Starbucks trash, it could be just that they never tried other beans of theirs or just go for the sweet diabetus stuff that has less coffee and more sweets.

It's impossible not to agree with what you say, going to Starbucks in the morning is very relaxing. Plus since you are a starbucks addicted it must be 2 times better than everyone 🤣
😂 It's like Christmas when you go to Starbucks super early and find it empty too!
You feel that much happy when you find an empty Starbucks? Wow, that's a rare thing in Turkey too. You can't find any empty
Whatt? not even 7 AM?
I've never been to Starbucks at 7 AM, so I have no idea. Wait, is it even open at 7:00?
ya, it's already opened at 7 AM as people go to work at around this time too.
The thing with big chains like Starbucks is that they've found a simple standard way of making things. This ensures that they easily win their low-quality competitors and the customers know what to expect. But on the other hand, the standard level is the only thing they can work with when competing against seriously better competitors.
Coffee shops like Starbucks will always be better than the worst, but never as good as the best.
Also, there are so many things which can be done "right" or "wrong". The furniture, the location, the general atmosphere, what kind of beans are used, how the coffee is made etc. It requires much more than just some chairs, some tables, some place, some kind of coffee etc. to get a pleasant cafe.
They certainly did some research before actually opening one. There aren't many of these in the country which adds extra branding to them; exclusivity. But once they expand their stores, I think it'll be common and perhaps will also impact people's view over them. I honestly been wondering how their coffee taste in another side of the world like Europe, where most of its people drinks coffee a lot. From what I experience, even places in Indonesia with frequent EU tourists have better cafe that actually makes Starbucks irrelevant than the rest of the country. Maybe it's the same in Europe where it's way better to get it from cafe than these chains.
Cultural differences, you never really understand them without seeing them in action. I mean, in Europe, there are many cafe's which are clearly worse than big chain places like Starbucks. I'm not even sure how they have survived, unless it's because of the same people who have been going there for 30-40 years and don't want to try anything new.
If Starbucks will expand in Indonesia, what if it'll stir up the competition and some small premium cafe's will pop up to provide something even better? Let's hope so at least.
This is the point I often make. Its not necessarily about the quality of the coffee but the way a place makes you feel when you're there. A relaxed, productive and calm state of mind tops quality of product every time!
Have blessed day full of serenity :-)
😂 now I totally get you! It's the place that actually makes me stay rather the coffee. Maybe after all, these coffee shops sells place and experience, that's their main menu and coffee is their side dish. have a great day Nathen!
Ah, I so get you!!
You get to hear quite often that Starbucks coffee is not good or that it's simply not worth its price... but for me it's like the whole experience. Going there, chilling for a bit, reading a book, just sitting there to enjoy your coffee. It's a whole other thing rather than just coffee and, as you said, there's no special ingredients lol
someone gets me hhahaha
It's really not rocket science to make those coffee but it's the ambience that wins over us!
The cozy environment of the place gave me a great vibe. Love Starbucks. :)
Indeed! it's that cozy environment
I'm so curious what makes Starbucks one of the expensive coffee in the world?
I'm not into coffee but I wanted to try out of even one sip. Hehe
It's not the most expensive but it certainly is expensive. As you see, they are not only selling coffee but also the place and the experience, cozyness of the place being one. Whenever you get the chance, you should totally try it.
Yeah and the name itself...
There's nothing more comfortably to stay the the likes of that place. It's design is just so simple but what makes it stands out is that the things are organized plus the lighting I must say.
That view infront of the window plus the green plants outside is just so relaxing to the eye and what's more if you have a coffee that came from good beans which produce the the taste of the coffee you're longing for. Just a perfect place to enjoy your drug every morning.
They know just how to make you stay. It's part of the experience. I simply love how cozy their place can be and how easily I can spend hours inside from breakfast until dinner. I try making my own place looking as clean as starbucks but it just feels different😃
That is realy true. As for me even if I'm not present in that place, it felt like I want to stay there while I consume my coffee.
I may never attain that kind of vibe for now but for sure in the future I can. It will work for you also I guess.😁
I miss reading your blogs @macchiata. It's been a while! One of these days, I think I'll be convinced by you to try Starbucks as well. Even though I'm no coffee enthusiast. But I agree that Starbucks really has a superior ambiance you would want to see and take in any day. That's two things I love about cafes too, the calmness of the place and smell of their ingredients is addictive.
😂 Yay! I managed to convinced another person. I am literally taking everyone I know at starbucks either for a treat or just because we need a coffee place to go. It's fairly pricey so it's not often. But they all loved it when I am taking them there. My mom is even addicted to it now😂
You ought to get shares in the company or set up a Starbucks Franchise 😁
A parody from a fictional book
I already got shares of Starbucks! trust me everyone been telling me I should open up a franchise in my hometown but apparently, they are pretty costly. Unless I have a billionaire sugar daddy, it's gonna take a while for me to afford one 🤣
Hi, I'm Leaky20 and I'm an addict. It's been 20 minutes since I last had coffee.
That's one of the things I love about large corporate businesses... money fight!!!
Haha it's just jokes, but seriously
We need that😂 I honestly need to learn their techniques to squeeze out money!
Yeah me too haha
