Last weeks were quite interesting thanks to some coffee related activities. I and my wife decided, that we will use the available time when my mother can take care of the children during the weekends, to enjoy some coffee at our favorite place in the city - the Specialty Place 23. If you may already know this is a tiny coffee shop when only specialty coffee is prepared is served. The thing is that the guy owning the place is one of the people who can talk with hours about the favorite drink and some other places in the region that have a reputation of being extraordinary. He also informs us about different coffee related events in the nearby cities. Time flies faster when we visit his place.
And even after I have an espresso machine at home, it’s nothing to compare with professional espresso machines in the cafés. Every time I go there he treats me with a different coffee. Last week he brewed me something and passed the cup with the words “You will like this. You can search for some raspberry flavor in it!”
Filter coffee also is different. The coffees he sells, from the 19 grams roasters can be quite expensive, but enjoying it once in the week can’t hurt our family budget. Furthermore we have the chance to try different filters every time. This is maybe the perfect opportunity to increase the range of coffees that we usually drink. And even if I don’t like sweet treats with my coffee, my wife loves enjoying some with her coffee.
The owner’s girlfriend hands down bakes the best tasting desserts in the back room and here are just some of her masterpieces:

This coffee flavored dessert not only looked perfect, but was very gentle and delicate in flavor. Coffee taste definitely was a nice compliment, not overly expressed.

This lemon cake was very delicious, both sweet and sour. It’s maybe my favorite dessert available at the coffee shop.
The culinary master tends to not make the desserts too sweet and even I enjoy a bite from my wife’s ones. Desserts are always prepared with high quality and special ingredients, sometimes using even coffee beans and extracts. And the treats don’t seem to be so pricey either. You can easily have a piece of a cake, or single dose dessert for about $2-3. Basically, I don’t think you can possibly find a cheaper and tastier place around the city and the time there is extremely pleasantly spent.
On the other topic, every day I fall in love more and more with Geisha coffee. The last days I tried it on espresso and there it also creates an unforgettable taste experience. In my opinion anyone who dares to try coffee from this variety will easily love its taste.
The espresso, unlike any other does not have any harsh notes at all. I mean the coffees I have at home are awesome every time, but most commonly leave a bit of harsh notes in the aftertaste from time to time. Overall it is still a very complex taste, but a tiny touch of something unwanted after I finish my shot. This is definitely not present in geisha coffee and I love the intense and flavorful taste of these beans. The two coffees that I can drink from Dabov’s selection are the mighty Geisha and their Signature Blend. The latter one though is something I wouldn’t have on filter while Geisha is pleasantly tasty both filter and espresso.
If I have the financial ability, I would gladly stick to these two varieties for a daily use.

Yes! You most certainly should indulge yourself now and again, a good cup of coffee at a decent establishment, like the one you’ve featured, is good for the soul. The desserts at this cafe look totally delicious and you’ve given us a decadent show of variety.
Seems like a lovely place to spend an afternoon.
The place is unique and I love visiting it. Nothing more to dream about. Delicious coffee, excellent treats and some nice company of Mr. Barista!
