This week, my post will not begin with Dabov coffee, yet it is a specialty coffee again! I visited a place in my hometown, that was opened about half an year ago (or maybe less) and I’ve only visited once. This week I decided to go there again and enjoy their specialty coffee.
The place itself is very little, but neat. It’s name is Specialty Place 23, nothing too fancy here. There are two small tables outside and inside there are like 3 regular tables that can fit 4 people and two high tables with this bar style chairs. It’s in a newly opened building and everything is clean and fresh looking.
Both the times I went there there weren’t other customers, so I had the chance to talk to the owner of the place. He is a young man and I feel that he has the same passion for specialty coffee and generally coffee, like the one I have. He told me that he purchases his coffee from a roaster in Greece, and works only with specialty coffee, which is great and that is the only place in my hometown where you can enjoy a coffee so delicious.
The best part is that the owner knows a lot about coffee and has great skills in preparing it correctly, as it’s supposed. He told me that his coffee is blend of 3 arabicas and he chose that one, because it’s more traditional-chocolaty, not so sour and ordinary people are expected to like it better. The variety of preparation techniques is not great, but the quality of the final product is what the target is. There are espresso, double espresso, filter coffee, cappuccino and cold brew coffee. The cold brew is not prepared by them, rather than it’s delivered in bottles.
I had a double espresso. It really tastes amazing. Very thick and balanced. It has some fruitful notes but they are not dominant. I think the coffee was very well extracted. This means the owner did a pretty good job into preparing it. His wife, on the other side, is not so much into coffee, but she prepares amazing desserts (which I didn’t shot) but they really look amazing. I haven’t tried them yet, because I prefer my coffee clean.
All over the place there are some artistic knitted details and the whole atmosphere is very friendly and good looking. It makes you enjoy your coffee even more. In one of my conversations with the owner, he told me that he has the idea of selling coffee beans or ground coffee for home, but there’s not an availability yet. Yesterday he was experimenting with a new grinder, that he has bought for package grounding specifically. I’ll be happy if I have the chance to try his coffee at home. Maybe soon!
I’m currently on a seaside weekend with my wife, but without the kids this time. Luckily the grandparents were happy to receive both the kids for the weekend, as we have time to enjoy ourselves
In complete silence and peacefulness. 😁
We rented a room in a boutique villa and it surprised us with interior. Everything is in a London theme, from the bed, the mirrors, cabinets and even the bathroom tiles!
Luckily, this time I brought some ground coffee with us. It’s only one dose, but given the fact we were for two days only, I don’t need that much of a good coffee. I ground the beans for filter, because bringing the V60 on the road is way easier that bringing the espresso machine, right? 😁
I ground the beans directly in a small jar, which fitted in the bag pack quite easily. In the room there is a free Nescafé, but instant coffee is not something that will be enjoyed by myself. The taste doesn’t get any close to the other coffees I’m enjoying.
In the room we had a hot water electric bucket and two fancy cups. I tend to make filter coffee right in the thermos which we always bring with us when traveling. Brewing the coffee as usual and we went outside on the small terrace to enjoy the view towards the sea. In this villa, every room has its small terrace, which makes the place very desired.
Now, I’ll end today’s post, because I need to enjoy the absence of the kids. We totally miss them now, but at the same time enjoy ourselves with all the peacefulness around.
Have a nice weekend and enjoy a cup of coffee, or tea!
See you soon!
Hey There!
I like the minimalist theme of the place. Simple and clean, and I'm pleased to hear that the owner knows a lot about coffee, and carefully selects his purchases.
That's a nice little apartment with a London theme. I like hotels like that, because it makes your mind travel to another place.
Just yesterday I ordered a new phone case with a London telephone theme, which I'm looking forward to receiving.
I like that you always take your own coffee with you, so you never have to substitute for a mediocre coffee.
It’s very nice when you can talk about coffee with the bar tender, owner or whoever prepares your coffee. You can always share and learn something new!
The room is very nice decorated and very interesting. I am curious what the other rooms look like. I think they have a Japanese themed room too. I think we may visit this place again, because it’s very cheap as well.
Fingers crossed for your phone case arriving sooner! Thanks for stopping by, always a pleasure to read your comments and interact.
I do hope you'll find a babysitter so you're able to enjoy many more moments like those 😁
Minimalism is amazing, I love the peace it transmits, by the way I love your coffee mug, I want to buy one like this for my wife and me :D
By the way, this coffee mug is the best I have ever had. Actually my wife bought it from Japan like 7 years ago. If I put my V60 coffee burning hot, you really cannot drink it during the next 6-8 hours. Today, after 12 hours inside it was like 40-45 degrees Celsius.
Very minimal looking place, the coffee sounds fantastic though.
Well, I think the place is really nice to hang around and enjoy a tasty coffee in an artistic atmosphere.
Wow London, I would love to go to that city, I hope my dreams of traveling all over the world will be fulfilled soon XD, I loved the style that the little coffee shop has, it looks very cute and cozy, it is a coffee shop that knows the art of coffee how great, excellent weekend for you two and you chose the best company a delicious coffee.
Good coffee has to be always the companion of our travels. Thanks for stopping by a lot!
