Moca Coffee: The Specialty Coffee Club – Barquisimeto [En-Es]

One of the most popular coffee shops with more branches in Barquisimeto is Moca Coffee. I was able to visit one of their stores, and I was surprised by everything that defines them as a specialty coffee shop from Lara. I have repeatedly commented in this blog that the state where I live is an autochthonous producer of coffee. That is why there are many coffee shops, but few specialty coffee shops, and Moca Coffee is one of them.

I visited the branch of Moca Coffee on Streets 21 between Streets 9 and 10 in the city of Barquisimeto. This part of the city is known for having several attractive restaurants and commercial businesses.

To live my experience as a taster of Moca Coffee, I was accompanied by my uncle and brother. Mainly, there we would taste and eat a dessert, but we would also talk about work issues.

Moca Coffee stands out for having a warm-toned façade; its logo is even brown and has a coffee cup. The usual cup that everyone who loves this beverage uses, but with its own commercial identity. I love the isotype and typography of their brand. It can be seen on the façade as well as inside the store.

Upon entering, the first thing I found was a wall decorated with coffee cups cut in half that decorated the coffee shop in an incredible way.

I must first describe the interior design of the premises. The first thing is that the design stands out for incorporating several elements. You can notice the delicacy of the modeling and the small details. Even the technological elements are very well positioned. Everything is very neat, you can impeccably notice that it is a coffee shop that wants to convey its splendor and the desire to provide its customers with a unique experience.

I loved one of the walls in a pastel variation of turquoise. Something I also appreciate is that all their furniture is different. The chairs like the tables are not the same; but they all match perfectly, generating a unique visual appeal.

The lamps are also very well positioned. On the table, you can find a flowerpot with an artificial plant (it would be better if it were real), and an almanac with a QR code to scan the menu.

This paragraph I want to dedicate to the table where I sat. I had never seen such a unique decorative element in a coffee shop. Each table at Moca Coffee had a perforated rectangle in the center, which allowed it to be filled with roasted coffee beans. Each customer in this coffee shop could play with and touch the coffee beans in a very vivid way. This was precious to me and caused me to completely fall in love with their concept.

In addition, the centerpiece was very delicate. Every detail was unique, and sent a clear message: Welcome and enjoy a wonderful experience.

In the almanac with the QR of the menu that I mentioned above, there was a page that said: From the Farm to Your Cup. Evidently, every bean they serve is cared for and processed with great care. Amazing, right?

On the menu I came across a house specialty coffee called Mocao which was brewed with Nutella and cost 3.40 USD or HBD. Of course, I asked the waiter to prepare this one for me. Additionally, I ordered a Nutella Cheesecake with Oreo for dessert, which was 6 USD or HBD.

My brother ordered a Moca Toddy according to the menu: espresso coffee that is emulsified with toddy and cream milk. This was one of the options I wanted to try, but I opted for the Mocao. The Moca Toddy was priced at 2.90 USD or HBD. My uncle was undecided; but in the end he ordered a Cappuccino, which cost 2.60 USD or HBD. All of these coffees were large size.

Our order took approximately 10 minutes. I must highlight the impressive presentation of the Moca Toddy they prepared for my brother. It was beautiful, looked just like it did in the almanac on our table.

In my case, the presentation didn't stand out much because of the Nutella, I didn't like that detail. I think the barista felt pressured because the order was already 10 minutes old (besides, the owner was on the premises); however, that detail did not overshadow the taste of the Mocao at all. I must say, its flavor was unique. Plus, it didn't feel cloying or too sweet (no need to add sugar).

In the case of the Nutella Cheesecake with Oreo, its flavor was delicious. The presentation of this dessert was impeccable for me. Beautiful, I could tell they put a lot of care into the dessert I ordered.

Having the coffees and the Nutella Cheesecake with Oreo on the table was incredible. It all looked very aesthetic (everything was charmingly photographic). A synergistically foodie and coffee moment for a person who loves this kind of thing.

The service and the products were wonderful. The taste of the Mocao is unique, you can feel the refined taste of the specialty coffee, and, together with the Cheesecake, it is a perfect combination.

The total of my bill was more than 15 USD or HBD, which I paid in Venezuelan legal tender. Of course, I headed to the cashier, who surprises you with an amazing decoration.

I recommend visiting Moca Coffee, tea will be served in an expended way, and you will taste a delicious specialty coffee. Their desserts are impressive and the decoration of the coffee shop is designed to live the best experience.

Oh damn that cake looks beyond delicious! $15 sounds quite pricey to me, but with that kind of treat in front of you, who could resist? :)

The Cheesecake is 6 dollars, the overall bill was a little over 15. In Venezuela all prices are referenced to US dollars. But in general it is worth it to enjoy and pay for the experience there.
