Tulum: Restaurant, Coffee & Bar - Barquisimeto [En-Es]

Tulum.png

Tulum is one of the most exotic places in the city of Barquisimeto. It is located in the financial area of the city and stands out for having an attractive concept. Coincidentally, I thought it was a place only to enjoy a good meal; however, in this place they have an area dedicated to enjoying a good coffee according to them on the second floor (actually, it would be floor one, since the previous floor would be floor 0).

Another aspect, important, is that my younger brother worked in the old place that was located here. It was previously called Chilanga.

I hadn't been out for a month or so to have a good coffee somewhere in the city. The crazy thing is that work was taking a lot of things away, but evidently I had to go out to be able to recreate myself a little and enjoy my only vice: coffee.

I don't drink a lot of alcohol; I won't deny that I love whiskey and cocktails, and I smoked a little when I was in law school (I quit; it's not productive at all and even less good for my health). I mention this because my passion for coffee goes beyond anything else. To recap, I went with my uncle and my brother to Tulum.

The corridor at the entrance of Tulum is notable for having an attractive face protruding from the wall; it is also next to the stairs. I did not detail exactly if it was made of clay. Also, as you go up the stairs, you can see at the top a moon molded into the wall, very attractive.

The area of Tulum, dedicated to coffee, stands out not only for highlighting this part, but it also has an area of art galleries. The concept is really attractive. Tulum is specifically located between Araguaney Street and Concordia Avenue in the Urbanization of the East of Barquisimeto (on a corner, on the side of the Sambil shopping mall).

As you enter the cafeteria part of the place, you are enveloped by the concept of the place. Near the stairs, there is a wall with several doors. Each of these doors has a characteristic artwork that invites you to open it to perceive what is behind them.

What is behind is an art gallery. Where each customer can write or paint whatever they want on the walls. Likewise, each client can buy a canvas and start painting there. Canvases cost 10, 20 and 30 USD or HBD. They are not canvases with wooden backing; it is purely the frame. I used to paint in oil, acrylic, watercolor and graphite. I know a little about the subject.

The interior of Tulum stands out for having a harmony with the elements. The pastel color of the walls gives calm and generates a remarkable relationship with every detail that was used for decoration. The cushioned furniture is comfortable; however, the chairs are very uncomfortable. I do not recommend sitting in them.

Initially, we did this and had to move to the furniture at the end of the cafeteria. Important aspect: the pictures from there come out perfect due to the fact that they are not affected by the light.

At the initial table where we sat, the waiter placed the menu that should be displayed when scanning the QR code. If not, you should ask the waiter. The waiter was very friendly and cordial. I tried to take screenshots of the menu and the layout of the page where it was posted and could not. The page had a block that did not allow this option on my phone.

2.jpg

On the menu, there was no coffee that my brother and I ordered: frappuccino. I asked the waiter if they sold cold coffees, and the frappuccino was the only one offered. My uncle ordered, on this occasion, an espresso. The menu had several desserts that caught my eye. In my case, I wanted a carrot cake, but the waiter told me they didn't have any.

1.jpg

He quickly apologized and told me that he would go to the bar to ask what desserts they had available. When she returned, she indicated that they only had three desserts available: a) Strawberry Cheesecake, b) Ovomaltine Cheesecake and c) Triple Chocolate Cake. There were no other options available because the pastry chef was ill. That's what the waiter who served us told me.

I decided to order a Triple Chocolate cake, which was priced at 8 USD or HBD (a bit pricey, but it was big enough for three people). Our order took about 8 minutes. It was really fast.

The first thing they placed on the table were the two frappuccino (I forgot to mention that each one is priced at 6 USD or HBD). Then they placed my uncle's espresso coffee and the cake. I must emphasize that the taste of the frappuccino was very nice, the decoration was amazing, and it highlighted the elegance and dedication in making it.

1.jpg

I really liked the presentation detail of the frappuccino. Its flavor was very well-balanced; a cold coffee is always good! In the case of the cake, it was the perfect combination, as it was made with three types of chocolate, and the one in the center was the most delicious. The taste of the cake with the frappuccino had a good harmony.

In the case of my uncle's espresso, he told me it was good. He always orders these coffees that are neutral and do not have high amounts of sugar or liquid milk.

The bill came to a total of 23 USD or HBD, but I left some tip, so I spent 26 USD or HBD. I paid in Venezuelan legal tender. Tulum is a cozy place that surprises with its interior design, diverse mix of elements, and enveloping quality service. It is a perfect place to enjoy a good coffee and chat. I hope you can visit it and feel its exotic touch.

I reckon caffeine isn't such a bad guilty pleasure, but maybe I'm biased! :D Especially in such a pretty place :)

hahahahahaha we are biased. In that respect, I can't object. The place is charming. And the coffee is tasty, perfect for relaxing.

What captivating art and decor! I particularly like the piece in the doorway (Or is the canvas just made to look like a filled doorway, hmm...) it reminds me of my days being a waitress haha!

In general this space is just gorgeous, and the offerings look incredible as well! Thanks for sharing your outing, I hope you are able to go out and enjoy coffee again before too long... It is difficult when work keeps us from the things we enjoy the most.

It is a place with many expressions. Perfect to enjoy something unique, and connect with you. I didn't fully notice. But the remarkable thing is the artistic and elegant.

Totally, it's a place worth visiting for a good coffee. It's hard, this month is going to be a bit difficult, as there will be a lot of work. I'll make room, I'll try hahahahahaha. Glad you liked the post and the place.
