I think many of us have that love-hate relationship with coffee. In my case it doesn't give me insomnia, but rather tachycardia, and that really makes me have a bad day. But guess what? I can't get rid of it completely! So I try to drink it once in a while, not too strong and with milk.
Try to take it maximum 4 hours before going to sleep. I just saw that today. Maybe I can help you.
