When I was younger, I used to visit this aunt of mine. Back then she was still single, though a workaholic but she still tries to make room for visits from family from time to time.
I do visit her once in a while whenever we are on holidays from school and I do stay with her for no more than two days but I always enjoy those few times. One of the reasons is because of the sumptuous meals I get to eat at her place.
I could say that most of the intercontinental dishes I have ever eaten so far were all at her place. Back then, I loved the fact that she always tries new things and she also tells me she loves learning new recipes on YouTube.
Another thing I loved about her was her love for coffee. She does have a big jar of grounded coffee in her home which I always love to take whenever I visit her.
I could remember my first visit to her place. I arrived there around evening and we had our dinner, watched movies before going to bed.
The next morning, we woke up and she asked that I help her boil water to prepare coffee. She went into the kitchen cabinet and brought out some eggs and her jar of coffee. She quickly went out to pick something while I went into the kitchen. Seeing the eggs, I deduced she wanted to make some fried eggs to accompany the coffee.
So I quickly took out some veggies from her fridge to garnish the eggs. I chopped some peppers, tomatoes and onions. I was almost done with the cutting when she came into the kitchen.
“What are you doing Rukkie?”, she asked, looking puzzled.
“Oh, I am cutting some veggies for the fried egg ma”, I responded while I continued cutting.
“Okay, you want to eat fried eggs? Oh I'm sorry I don't have any bread at home”, she responded
“Wait, I thought that's why you brought out the eggs?”, I asked quizzically.
She burst into laughter making me wonder if I had said something funny.
“Oh Rukkie, it's for my coffee. I always mix my coffee with raw egg”,
That's odd. “How does it taste?” I asked, trying to hide my disgust. The thought of drinking raw eggs made my stomach churn.
The look on my face sent her into more fits of laughter. “Don't worry, you can have a taste of it if you want”.
“No ma. I think I'm good”, I said while she went on to do her thing. She broke an egg into her coffee mug, gave it a good whisk, added her grounded coffee and poured some warm water into it. She also added some milk and sugar while I watched keenly at the mixture happening right in front of me.
When she was done, she took a long sip and breathed a sigh of delight. I, on the other hand, tried all my possible best not to remind her of what we had for dinner by retching my stomach contents into her living room.
I decided to make some fried eggs with a cup of black coffee while she took her “coffee-egg mix”, like I have come to call it.
Before you ask, I did summon the courage to take a sip of her coffee-egg mix during another visit to her place. Well, it doesn't really taste great to me but I guess it tasted great to her.

That's some weird combo though. I guess she takes it because it has some nutritional or health value. But one thing is sure, I can't stand the smell of raw egg not to takl about consuming it

Not gonna lie, that sounds f-ing awful :)) But maybe it's just a combination we're not used to. Do you know, does she drink it like that for some health benefits or something or just likes the taste?
She might have her reason for taking it but she didn't disclose it because I asked she just laughs it off.
